June 2014 Weddings

inexpensive wedding

My fiancee and I are looking for inexpensive ways to have a wedding a reception, so if anyone has ideas we would love to hear them! Also looking forward to helping others in anyway I can!

Re: inexpensive wedding

  • Well, what kind of wedding do you want to have? Formal/Informal? In a church? Outside? How many people? What time of day? All of these things can affect the cost of a wedding.

As far as things that can make the wedding cheaper, regardless of what it is like:

Look into Vistaprint for stationary, etc. The prices are very good and there are frequently groupons available. There is currently one out for $100 of product for $25.

Look into having a restaurant cater your wedding. They are often cheaper than companies that only cater.

Have a dry wedding or find a venue that lets you provide your own alcohol. Booze is expensive!

Shop around for wedding dresses. David's Bridal has $99 sales. You can find used ones for cheap. You could borrow one from a female relative/friend. Wedding dresses don't have to cost thousands of dolllars!

Make sure you check out the Budget Weddings board. It is a great resource for getting ideas and coupons.

This. Additionally, be cost conscious when it comes to decor...ive done alot of DIY..our broom, ceremony decor, cake topper, bouquets, boutonierres, gifts, etc.I did the "no-no" and ordered my dress off line for less than $200 total....i was lucky and alterations will be about another $200 for me.....keep that list DOWN....I see ur in the chicago suburbs so if ur familiar with Georgios Banquets in Orland Park, we are looking at approx $4500 for a minimum of 80 guests...we moved our wedding back from this June to next June which gives me more time.
    Those invitations and programs....giiiiirl   <a href="http://www.Annsbridalbargains.com" rel="nofollow">www.Annsbridalbargains.com</a> , <a href="http://www.vistaprint.com" rel="nofollow">www.vistaprint.com</a> or  <a href="http://www.magnetstreet.com" rel="nofollow">www.magnetstreet.com</a> .....

    How about silk flowers...cheaper and last long for keepsakes?  <a href="http://www.silkflowersfactory.com" rel="nofollow">www.silkflowersfactory.com</a> or <a href="http://www.saveoncrafts.com" rel="nofollow">www.saveoncrafts.com</a>

DIY...DIY...DIY! I have expensive taste but im frugal and creative....In addition to what I previously listed Im doing, our painted monogram on our $10 aisle runner, our "jumpthe broom" broom, our cardbox, bridal party gifts, reception centerpieces, our invites and programs on one of the above-named sites......

BE CREATIVE.....get started so your not stressed two days before you say I DO...
PM (private message) me if more advice needed....I see youre new so WELCOME and CONGRATS!

This! This! This!  I stood up in a DW.  The couple needed to keep the reception back home within a budget.  We used the Groom's favorite Mexican Family restaurant.  The food was amazing, and dirt cheap.  Something like about $10-$12/person.  It kept with their Mexico theme, and guests loved that it was different from the usual wedding fare.  With all the leftover we were eating tacos for a week!
