  • I start listening to Christmas music On November 1. Sirius starts playing holiday msuic around November 12th or something, so after I listen to that radio station only from then on, but to me, November 1 starts the holiday season.

  • I hate listening to it but during the week before Christmas I get excited and will start listening to it. I think the radio stations should wait until at least December 1st to start playing it...its usually on at the end of November...barf.

  • I think it should wait until DECEMBER!!! They play Christmas stuff almost before halloween sometimes. Thanksgiving just doesn't get its time to shine!

  • I dont want to even see it before halloween...but after the mini size chocolate high wears off and the costumes are put away and of course FALL is my favorite time of year...I start looking forward to baking and cooking hardy foods...applesauce in the crockpot, chili's and chicken and dumplings and apple pies and the baking hits me...I just love the time of year....so as Thanksgiving approaches, I dont mind some christmas music here and there...but the day after black friday....bring it on!!!  I'm in full Christmas mode!!!  I lOVE THE HOLIDAYS!!!!!  and I'm so excited that the wedding is like the kickoff to the end of year hoiday celebrations....perfect!!!

  • I don't like seeing decorations until mid novbember and I refuse to listen to music until mid-december. If I hear a song on the radio I'll change the station.

  • The day after Thanksgiving is when I'll consciouslly out on Christmas music.

Side note: I was at Target last week and they had the Christmas decorations out. I was a little surprised.  I'd like to have my wedding before having to think about Christmas.

  • I ususally start in November but sometimes bust our my Christmas  playlist in the summer.  Its weird when stores are playing it in november though...I'd like to hear it in December.
  • It tends to change from one year to the next. Some years I can take it a little earlier than other years. For the most part though I wait until Dec 1st before I willingly listen to Christmas music.  My store (the CVS I work at) just got our Christmas shipment this past week so it's already going out. I don't really remember when the instore music switches to Christmas but I think it's right around Thanksgiving.

  • AFter the first snowfall that STAYS lol... usually mid November... and of course MOST of DECEMBER... I have my favorite album (Michael Buble's new XMAS album that came out last year) I have it on Repeat hehehe
  • Last week or two of November is okay, but I don't like to listen to it all of the time (thank you, retail jobs!!). So I guess typically after Thanksgiving. I think usually the night of Thanksgiving my dad tries to find something hokey for fun. Our family's favorite is "Merry Christmas from the Family" it's offensive and hilarious, so you should look up the lyrics!! (If that kinda thing doesn't bother you!)

  • November 1st.

It just started snowing here yesterday, and the radio was playing Christmas carols, not okay.
  • I hate that christmas music comes on so early, but I'm also a sucker for it! I think a local radio station starts after halloween, but I will probably crack down and actually start listening mid-november.

  • No Christmas music, decorations, etc until the day after Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, and like a PP said, putting the Christmas stuff out too early doesn't give T-giving a chance to shine!

Plus, the earlier the Christmas stuff starts, the less special Christmas seems.  I wind up being sick of Christmas by the 2nd week of December when the Christmas stuff comes out in September.  I went in Hallmark last week, and they had all of the Christmas cards out already....ridiculous!

  • I worked in retail for too long to appreciate Christmas stuff very far in advance of Christmas. usually the 2nd or 3rd week of December is when I can start tolerating it, but I may actually purposefully listen to it the week of Christmas.

  • After Thanksgiving.  I want to enjoy my holidays one at a time.

I heard a commercial on the radio the other day that was using Jingle Bells already. WTF, it's only the first week in October!!
  • I wish they would just wait till after Thanksgiving as I'm not a huge fan of Christmas music but my FI the Christmas fanatic has been watching Christmas movies for 2 weeks.... He really loves Christmas.

We start listening on the day after Thanksgiving or occasionally Thanksgiving.

ETA: FI is Jewish and while he doesn't MIND the holiday music, he prefers not to hear it until mid-December or so.
  • Never. I may be a scrooge but I can't stand Christmas music. I love the holidays, just not the music.

  • August 1. (Just for a taste.) My cousin and I have kept this tradition since we were little kids.

For real? Any time after Thanksgiving!
  • My birthday is November 25, one month before Christmas, so I usually start being in the mood for it and listening to it then.  Some radio stations start playing it in mid November now, and that's just too early.  I want to enjoy my birthday and Thanksgiving first.
FI is the same way - his birthday is on Halloween, so he has to compete with a holiday every year for his birthday and I think he feels hearing Christmas music before Thanksgiving even arrives is just too much.
But waiting unti just before Christmas seems way too late.  Living in Colorado with the snow (heck it snowed today!) puts me in the mood early.

  • I am totally a sucker for Christmas music, and while I don't decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, I'll definitely listen to Christmas music in November.
