Christmas night...anyone here?

I just got back from dinner with FI's family. Christmas was so special this year (see post below).
FI got me two necklaces I sent him hints about but completely forgot about! We got a couple things off our registry (our Keurig coffee maker and our pots and pans). Now I just need to figure out how to update our registry saying they had been purchased.

Re: Christmas night...anyone here?

  • I'm here too.  I got back about an hour ago from my FI's aunt's house.  Christmas was great this year.  One of my friends FINALLY was proposed to.  They dated for well over 6 years and we knew it was coming forever.

My FI got me a few games for our Wii, some candles, and diamond and sapphire earrings that I absolutely love.  We got a few things off our registry from people too as well as some gift cards, cash, and stuff that was not on our registry but we needed according to them (ie dish towels).

Ash - To update the registry I would just take them off, that's what I did.

  • enjoy the earrings! I love diamond and sapphires.

I am thinking deleting the items may be the solution.

  • I'm here but on my phone so don't know how long. Had dinner at FI's earlier. We got luggage from them for the honeymoon. I got mu pearl necklace from FI. from my parents I got some dress clothes for work, puma sweatshirt, the 7 items off our registry I mentioned earlier, 2 CDs, and a purse
  • I'm around...on my iPhone. :) FI and I spent Christmas home alone this year and that was absolutely fine with me. We FINALLY closed on our house Monday afternoon so it's been a whirlwind of a week. We closed and moved in on Monday (and by moving in, I mean literally just bringing boxes into the garage) and FI went to work for 3rd shift call immediately after :/ He then worked 2 days of 3rd shift and 2 days of day shift this past week. I worked 2 8s and 2 12s at the new job too. Needless to say, not much unpacking got done. We decided that between not being able to unpack all week and having gone back home every weekend this past month, that we would stay home (and it feels good to say HOME now!). Yesterday we watched the Lions game at a local bar and had a prime rib dinner (obviously we have no TV or cable hooked up yet). When we came home we built a fire in our fire ring...which was kind of neat. It was cold outside but next to the fire we were warm and toasty. We decided it would be a great tradition to start and carry on..even when we have kids. :) Today we stayed home and unpacked some and made homemade Belgian waffles (a tradition since our first year together)...took a mid-day nap...did some more unpacking and then made ourselves a Chrismas dinner of ham, mashed potatoes, corn and fresh rolls and wine :) We have a TON of ham leftover but it was nice. FI is taking to his parents now and I am laying by my fireplace (!) TKing and finishing the wine. ;) I hope everyone's holidays have been as blessed and happy as ours :)
  • Amy:  I'm glad things are going well with the move.  Your christmas sounds great.  My FI and I are thinking of having christmas with ourselves next year (pending where we move) and do basically what you did.

Ashley: What do the necklaces look like?  I'm jealous of your Keurig.  I really want one.

  • I'm here! Fi and I are just hanging out at my parents house (who just left for a ski trip in Michigan...without us...sad!...but we have to work this week. Boo.) We just got done watching the Chicago Bulls win. Woo hoo!!!

We had a great Christmas with all of our families! 5 Christmases in a row. Whew! But now we are enjoying an evening, just us two. PLUS, we JUST booked our flight to Belize for our honeymoon. Now we can start looking for where to stay and what to do..officially. So excited.

    Merry Christmas, all! :)

Thank you! I highly recommend at least ONE Christmas alone. It's been nice to enjoy each other's company and begin new traditions just the two of us :)
  • Amy, glad the move is almost done.

The first necklace is one I saw on Etsy. It's my first name initial, a small heart, and FI first name initial.

the other necklace is a cross pendant I saw a while ago and forgot all about!

  • Ash: I love those initial necklaces! I was thinking of getting one for the wedding or RD!

I am glad everyone has had a great Christmas so far. Sometimes it can be stressful, but in the end it's truly great to be around people that you love and care about :)

  • Ha I just looked at your necklaces on FB and was gonna ask where you got them lol
  • I'm here watching Elf at FI's patent's house. We had a great Christmas! We spent last night and this morning with my family. Then drove the hour and a half to Fi's family to do Christmas with them. We were definitely spoiled by bith families. We got the Waterford candlesticks we registered for and storage cases for our china when we get that. My aunt and uncle gave me a cooler with FI's last name on it which was so thoughtful and strange to see at the same time. We joked that only FI can use it until the wedding. It was hard leaving my family early today since this is the first year we've done this but it was okay. FI's mom said this was her best Christmas ever. She has 3 boys and she said she loved shopping for all the girly stuff for me.
    Anniversary
  • LOL. I am so late. Me and My FI slept in as long as we could. People kept calling, to wish us a Merry Christmas. He kept reminding people that we did not have kids so we would not be up early. We then went to his Mom's house to enjoy his family. Afterwards we went to my mom house for dinner. We are actually just getting home.

This christmas, I recieved all of my gifts from my FI early. I recieved a pair of shoes (I love my shoes), a light tint on my windows, a watch and I heard I was going to get another pair of shoes.

  • We had a good christmas, i do not go to my family's for christmas anymore, there's is tomorrow, i work nights so i have an excuse if anyone needs one, i am sure they don't.

We have fiances parents on the 28th, no one in that family buys for anyone, that is fine, just a meal & maybe some games.

We had our christmas at home yesterday, was awesome, opened gifts, watched a christmas movie, made the dinner, had family over, then went to his brothers.

Today we did nothing, just that, watched some prison break, about 6 or 7 episodes, we have about 40 episodes left, i want to finish them so i can watch the newest season of one tree hill & house we got for christmas lol.

I now have to stay awake to make sure i sleep in tomorrow, i only want 1 thing on sale for boxing day & for whatever reason that store does not open till noon, they will lose out for sure.
