Dress shopping on a budget in NYC

Hi all! I'm going into NYC next weekend to hunt for a dress, but I'm on a strict <$1000 budget. 

I was mostly wondering if anyone knew of department stores with a good bridal selection? I've found boutiques to be a little over the top, and I'm looking for a really simple dress--I'm not into beading or big skirts or anything super formal. 

So far have an appt at the Bridal Garden and at JCrew's bridal shope. Any other suggestions?

    Try RK Bridal.  They have a lot of dresses under $1000

    Lord and Taylor and 3 dresses and RK Bridal was a zoo and the dress I got was only $13 less there. Not worth it there is zero customer service. I went to Bridal World but it is on the island. Nordstrom and nice dresses and very reasonable. Look at them online.

    I went to a few small boutiques first to get an understanding of what I wanted then got the greatest dress at David's Bridal. I couldn't tell the difference between the $2500 dress @ a little boutique in the village and my own that cost less than $700!
