Deodorant

Outdoor wedding, July 15th.  I need recommendations for a deodorant that won't leave white streaks on my underarms- I have a strapless dress- but that I can reapply occasionally throughout the day as I get sweaty... probably an unscented one would be the best idea?  Any suggestions?

Re: Deodorant

  • I like the Secret Clinical Strength ones. Not sure if they're all scented though, but I don't remember any being an overpowering scent if that.

I've used the Dove clinical, it doesn't have much of a smell. The other thing with clincial strength deoderant that I've heard is to use it the night before when you go to bed so it can absorb, and then a regular, if strong, deoderant the day of. My fiance has an exessive sweating problem and that's what the doctors told him to do.

  • Thanks ladies also because I hate baby powder scent.

  • I recently switched to Dove deodorant.  As far as I can tell, it doesn't streak and the scent is very mild.  Strongly scented things tend to give me a headache.

I love Certain Dri. It's basically the same as all the new clinical strength deodorants, it's just kind of 'the original' (and cheaper). I agree with pp to put it on the night before, and make sure to use it for at least a few days leading up to the wedding, because like almost all other clinical strength formulas, it works better when it has had time to kind of build up. It's perfectly clear and odor-free. The kind I use is the roller-ball style, I don't know if they even make a solid. For my regular deodorant I have been using the new Secret Outlast and that works great also. I have the unscented version. It works well, goes on clear, and doesn't clump up in the folds of skin as frequently happens to me with other brands. I prefer to use them both together for extra protection. I use the Certain Dri for a week leading up to the event and the night before, and then in the morning on the day of, I shower and apply just my regular deodorant (there is no need to reapply the Certain Dri since it will still be working). Works like a charm every time!

ETA: If you are going to use the Certain Dri or another clinical strength formula, you shouldn't need to reapply. They prevent odor by actually preventing you from sweating in the first place. I don't reapply during the day and I have never had an issue (I just use my regular deodorant in the a.m., as I said).

Secret clinical strength is the only one that works for me. I used to use certain dry at night and then a regular deodorant in the morning but, for me, the clinical strength secret is better. I always put in on at night and in the morning....I also reapply during the day if I'm out in the sun, if I don't I feel sticky. The scent is not strong at all.

I second Certain-Dri.  Once every year or two, I start to sweat excessively.  When this happens, I buy a bottle of Certain-Dri.  I use it every day for a few weeks.  Then, I go back to using my regular deodorant and my excessive sweating issue is all gone!
