No ring bearer!?

Believe it or not, we have ABSOLUTELY no boys of ring bearer age to fit this role.  I have seen people who have used their dog as ring bearer, but that is out of the question as well.  Can I send it down with the flower girl?  Should I have two flower girls, and one has the rings?  Can I skip this tradition all together????

Any other ideas would be awesome!

Re: No ring bearer!?

  • You can skip it. Most ring bearers don't actually carry the rings anymore anyways, the MOH and BM typically do that so the kid doesn't accidentally drop or loose them.
  • My MOH had my H ring and his BM had mine.  We didn't have any kids in the WP.

This.  And I don't think most people entrust the rings to a five year old.  It's usually fake rings on the pillow anyway.

This is what we did as well.

Most weddings I've attended didn't have a ring bearer, unless the couple had a nephew or son they wanted to honor (and he just carried a pillow with fake rings).

  • Our ring bearer was older - ten and we called him a groomsman - so he actually carried our rings (in their boxes) in his tux pocket.  He was incredibly serious about his job and he wanted to help his uncle (my DH).  It's completely fine to skip having a ring bearer or to have a girl fill the role.

  • Our RB walked down the aisle with a pillow and fake rings.  BM had them. So you will be fine without one.

    We're not having an RB.

  • We aren't having a ring bearer or a flower girl.  It's all personal preference and whether or not there are young children you are close to that you want to honor.
  • You couldn't have paid me to have child attendants, even if I'd known any children of the right age.  We actually didn't invite any children at all, other than the two infants in the family.  The best man held the rings.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

If not a dog, perhaps a cat? (JOKING!)

Seriously, either do not have a ring-bearer at all, or perhaps another little girl to "pair" with the flower girl.

I wouldn't give the rings to anyone under the age of 16.  Have your honor attendants hold your rings.  My best man had H's; H's best man had mine.
