Change of Date

Need a minute to vent as I'm beyond frustrated!  I was in really good shape for my September wedding then received a letter from my FI (who's in the military) that we will have to move the date up.  Right now we are on a Saturday and my venue only has Friday's available in July and August.  Our ceremony starts at 4 pm since our reception has to end by 10 pm, is this too early for a Friday?  I'm worried that people won't come now that it is during the week.

    People usually have to take part of the day off anyways...anyone who you want to be there, will be.

    I'm having my wedding on a Friday- at 5pm.  I also know that most of my guests, if they can or even want to, will have to take at least part of the day off.  Like the previous poster said, the one's you really want to be at your wedding will be there.  Honestly (I'm truly sorry if this offends you or anyone else), by having it on Friday you may weed out people that you're "required" to invite, but you don't really want at the wedding.  This may free up some spots for people you really want at the wedding that didn't make the first cut just because of the "required A-list" guests!

    I was in two Friday weddings in 2010 and one started at 5 and the other at 4. It is not too early, especially given your situation. 

    I'm in another Friday wedding this September and it starts at 2:30. Keep in mind that the vast majority of people who you have invited are more than happy to take half a day or a full day off of work to be at your wedding. 4pm still allows people to work a half day!

    I agree with PP- if they really want to be there, they will get there! Do what you need to do to marry the love of your life!

    If you really want a Saturday, you could look into other venues- or perhaps a Sunday would be possible?

    If people want to be there, they will be there. Your wedding only happens once, people will do what they need to do. I'm going to three friday weddings this summer. I'm not going to lie, it is a bit of a pain for your guests, but it's an excuse to take off work and see my friends marry their best friends :)
