  • i thought about this, maybe wanting one for the reception...but like PPs we're just going to rely on a couple of people to use a video camera. I really didn't want one for our ceremony because i think it's too special/private to "replay" :P

I really would like one, but the prices are just outrageous. I mean it would add 1,500-2,000 to the cost of our wedding. I think we are just going to have a friend or family member record the ceremony and highlights of the reception.

  • I wasn't planning to get one but then a few of my friends told me not having one was the only wedding regret they have. I still think there is a good chance I will never watch it.
  • Nope. I honestly would never want to watch it.

  • We are a no as well.  The cost is way too much and anyway I really don't like to be videotaped at all and I would probably never watch it.  I am sure someone will tape the important parts (speeches, cake cutting etc)

  • Video was one of the "must haves" I wanted for the wedding.  We are using the same company for both video & photo, so everyone is going to be working together.  Bother start earlyin the morning while I'm getting ready (1 photo with me & 1 where groom is) and they will stay with us until the end of the recption, even going on party bus with us and getting video (not just pics) of our "first look" photos.  I feel like we are going to be all over the place that day and will miss a lot of things.  I also have a bunch of friends who say they watch the video every anniversary.

  • We won't be hiring a videographer. I'd like to, but budget-wise it just isn't an option. I do like PPs ideas for setting one up for the ceremony! Perhaps we'll do that. I think it'd be nice to have that part on tape.

I remember one of the QOTD was, "What would you include if you had an unlimited budget for your wedding?" and a lot of us answered this, ha. It'd be nice, but it wasn't enough of a priority to spend the $$$.

  • I voted undecided, because I would like one, but I don't think its in the budget. I agree with PP's though that lots of people will have cameras and can post any videos they take to a photobucket site or something.  I have a facebook friend who did not have a videographer, but her husband used clips from other people to create a wedding video for their one year anniversary for her. How cute!

  • We lucked out. My brother is filming it and editing it for us as our wedding gift. He went to film school so it will be great quality. If it wasn't for him offering to do this for us we would have a camera set up near the alter and that's it.

  • It is sooooo expensive!  We don't have it in our already expensive budget.  We have had a few friends voluteer, including a friend of the family who does it for a living.  I just want the ceremony taped though, and could care less about the whole reception and having it edited.

  • My FI doesnt want to spend the money, but I want it ....it will  definately happen.
  • i want one... i dont know if i will ever watch it but everyone always says they regret not having one!!! so i am afraid i will regret it if we dont get one. i also think the ceremony is something we can show our future kids. and its such a busy day the video will capture things you didnt see and / or things you would like to see again.
FI dosent seem to want it though... i dont know if its a $ thing or what. the one videographer i talked to cost like $1950 !!!!! i was shocked < the video i saw was amazing though and he was so nice on the phone when i talked to him />

We are just going to have a family friend videoo tape the ceremony.  I can't justify spending that much money.  We have a photographer we really like.

  • My XH and I set up a camera to record the ceremony. We never watched it. With that in mind, and with the outrageous amount of money it costs, FI and I decided to not worry about it. I'm sure some folks will have video cameras with them.

Yes! We both really wanted to have a professional video to watch, especially if anything ever happened to one of us (we don't have very many videos, fully clothed ones at least ;P). We are just having the ceremony filmed it was only $650 for video + DVD. It seemed worth it to have a video of us exchanging vows and the dove release and all. Our wedding is very small and I personally don't trust any of my guest to record such a special moment. My mom forgot to hit record when my sister was giving birth and so did my uncle when my other sister was getting married lol. Alzheimer's runs in my family too... It might help jog my memory, I hope ;)

  • I'm with Dana.... our video is included in our photo package - can't wait!  he's actually an amazing cinematographer and does some beautiful work.  Here is the "Love Story" video he made for us during our first set of E-pics!  https://vimeo.com/38249690
