Secluded, woodsy reception venue

My fiance and I are trying to find the wedding venue perfect for us, but it's proving more difficult than we thought, so I thought I'd pick everyone else's brain for ideas.
We want a secluded location, with charm and character (like a barn, mill, etc.), and trees.  We are inviting 170, so we are expecting around 150 guests.  Money is a factor, so we are looking for the more budget locations, and we would prefer not to have the wedding be in a tent.  We also would prefer the convenience of an all-inclusive type package, rather than finding the caterer and other rentals separately.  We are looking in the NJ/NY/PA area.
To give you an idea...So far we loved Stroudsmoor's Woodsgate (but feel like our 150 will be squished into the reception room), and Ridgecrest (but can't make the 175 minimum), and loved the view and price of Bear Mountain's Overlook Lodge (but did not like the reception room/cocktail hour hallway).
If anyone has any ideas for other places for us to check out, we'd love to hear them!

  • Not sure what your actual budget is, but Ramsey Country Club fits the description of the look you're going for.  It's about $150pp including tax & gratuity.

  • Lake Valhalla fits the description too - although not sure what "budget" means
  • We're looking for under $120pp...
  • Perona Farms is great priced, and also has all of those things you are looking for.  The onyl thing is they do 2 weddings at a time.
  • I would suggest looking into Lake Valhalla Club.. if you are willing to do it during a less popular month (Nov-Apr) or on a Sunday, I think it would be in your budget and they only have one package and it includes SO MUCH.  I am getting married there in June 2013. :)
  • Definitely try for an off-season month or Friday/Sunday.

We are thinking Friday in November, actually.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into them!

That is too funny, when I say the thread title I was going to suggest Stroudsmoor! It was beautiful, just a little pricey for me. Perona Farms was also very pretty :) My sister had her wedding at Woodloch in PA. The lake was in the background for both the ceremony and reception. It was really gorgeous. And the greatest thing was that guests who choose to stay overnight at the cabins or hotel get access to all the activites like water skiing, paddle boats and kayaks :)
  • Lake Valhalla def fits it....and Perona Farms is something you should look at as well.  I heard that Perona Farms is very budget friendly.  Or David's Country Inn.
Or, you could look at the Warwick Valley Winery in Warwick, NY.  They do weddings and that place is pretty secluded.

  • We've been to Perona Farms and David's Country Inn...they're both nice, and in the price range, but are both right on the road and don't have the outdoor feeling we'd like.  I haven't actually gone to Lake Valhalla yet, because they won't give prices unless you go, and we're not really feeling the beach. ... We're picky, I know.
Your idea about the winery led me to this:

which gave me a few new places to email.
    Thanks for the help!
