Wedding Party Gifts

What are you ladies doing for wedding party gifts? We are trying to pick something out. I want to get them something that they will actually use and love not something dumb. What would you want, in a budget price range?

Re: Wedding Party Gifts

  • I completely understand the whole budget thing.  I got each one of my girls (there's 7 plus one flower girl) one of the totes from TK with thier initials on them plus their necklaces.  I kept watching for what I wanted and when it went on sale I got both of them for a steal.  I also am making them personalized hangers for their dresses which cost about $3 each to make and made up day of emergency kits from the Dollar Tree.  So I have about $100 invested in all.  Hope this helps.

  • I'm thinking I'll get each of them a nice bottle of wine and a couple of other small personalized gifts. The hard part is the cost, and honestly I suck at coming up with the "couple of other small personalized" gift ideas. ha

  • Im making a set of chalkboard wine glasses for each girl and a wood burn hanger. Im looking into jewelry for them but i cant really count that so still up in the air on the rest.
The guys we waiting on a sale and got flasks with monogram and my brother we got him a zombie head decanter on thinkgeek.com. My FI stumbled across it and my brother loves zombies so we thought it would be a neat gift.
Im trying to shop like its there birthday for one item. My cousin im trying to hunt down a vera bradley purse i have that she was checking out. I think it was the hipster and im trying to find in a pattern she would like on sale so far no luck. As I got mine for $35 at outlet.

  • I got my girls monogramed beach bags with a matching wallet inside plus I am making pearl earings, necklace and bracelet for them as well.

All of this cost no more than 25.00 bucks for each (I only have two girls).
  • We don't know for sure what we'll get for everyone. So far I got tote bags with the BMs names on it and plan to fill it with a few different items such as coffee, bottle of wine, maple syrup (we are in northern Minnesota after all), jam, etc. We got the flower girl a Disney princess book already. FI still has to decide what to get the GMs.

  • I got the women (bridesmaids, mothers and my daughter) antique spoon bracelets from 1897 - 1908. :) I got them off of Etsy and had their names engraved on them. They're GORGEOUS! Just arrived yesterday actually :) I spent a total of like $38 per person. That's all I'm getting them though. I figured it'll be a really heartfelt gift and all of the women love antique / vintage stuff :) so they should go over very well. I'm a little worried about my MIL because she doesn't wear much jewelry, but I think she'll like it regardless.

  • I got my girls a pair of running shorts since they all run and that's how I met 4 of them (running in college).  Two others are family members who run.  We are giving our groomsmen ties to wear for the day.

My girls all have different dresses (different necklines), so I didn't want to do jewelry - they can wear what they want.  And, I didn't want to give personalized stuff because I personally hate stuff with my name or initials.  FI hates the generic guy's gifts of flasks & other similar items so we just decided to give the ties instead of having them order & pay for them.

  • i've got 2 BM and 1 MOH.  I bought each of them a diamond necklace to wear with their dresses (got them like 70% off the day after thanksgiving - score!)

then i got my MOH a coach wristlet when they had their sale and the BMs I got 'wet suit' bags -- basically terry cloth drawstring bags with a separate plastic zip compartment so when their bathing suit is wet they have somewhere to put it to not get everything else wet!
I figured they could also use it as a beach bag or laundry bag when they travel. =)

I think i spent around $60 for each girl.

I think I'm going to get MOH and each BM a personalized tote. I already got them pretty floral mugs from anthropologie with their first initial on them. I would like to get them jewelry to wear the day of (something different for each suited to her personality/style). I am also paying for their hair and possibly their makeup too even though both are optional. I may only offer to pay for the hair.

FI is a woodworker and will make something for the guys. I know one idea he had was humidors but I don't think they all smoke cigars, so maybe he will make each one something different.

For flower girl/ring bearers we'll probably do toys of some sort. I also saw an embroidered handkerchief for a flower girl on Pinterest that was given by her aunt and uncle (the bride and groom) to save and use for her "something old" on her wedding day. Thought that was a great idea!

  • I got my MOH/BMs Vera Bradley wristlets in different patterns. Inside of the wristlets I put real pearl earrings to match their dresses, faux pearl bracelets, iTunes gift cards, and personalized thank you notes. I have a small wedding party (3 ladies).

I'd take to heart the advice of shopping for them like it's their birthdays. I think people really appreciate getting something that is meaningful/useful to them personally, and it is also fun to shop for!

  • all of my WP gifts came from ebay.  7 embrodered personalized tote bags ($48 total), bought youth tee shirts in the wedding colors and iron ons that say "ring security" and "jr groomsman" for the little boys (I think the iron ons were $2.00 each) and engraved zippos for the groomsmen ($12 each I believe).  I love etsy, but personally feel ebay is better for small budgets.

I haven't bought anything yet, but I plan on getting the girls a personalized tote, a beach towel, flip flops, some sunscreen & lip balm (to follow the beach theme), plus a bottle of their favorite wine and jewelry to wear on the wedding day. If I'm any good at it, I'm going to attempt to make personalized hangers as well. I'm also paying for 1/2 of the cost to have their hair done (I think they'll appreciate that the most).

For the guys, we're getting them mini coolers (12 cans), paying a portion of the tux rental, a large beer mug set, and some micro brews (since we're having our reception at a brewery). And if I'm able to find them, some coral argyle socks to wear at the wedding!

  • I got each of my BMs a tote/reusable grocery bag (from Walmart, I thought they were cute), and in each I am placing their necklaces/earrings (they were a set), a bottle of lotion, chapstick (blistex silk & shine), kleenex, and a personalized note :)

For our Groomsmen, FI is getting them each a gift card to a store he thinks they will enjoy :)

For our ushers (yes we're getting ushers gifts): personalized gift cards, for the guys they will probably be sporting goods stores or restaurants, for the 2 girls (FI's sisters) we are getting them a gift card to share to go out to Olive Garden (their fave restaurant).
