Ceremony Music...

I have decided to tackle the ceremony music ... Just curious are you using different music for the processional and for your entrance or are you using the same song for both.

Re: Ceremony Music...

  • The groom/GM will come in to the same song as the BMs, but then I'll be coming in to another song.

  • The rest of the party will enter to a different song than mine.

  • Same. Are you doing traditional songs? I'm interested to hear your choices. I need to still pick out ceremony music. I know I'm walking down to "Canon in D", the same song my mom walked down the aisle to!
  • Different. Not sure what the girls song is going to be but I am walking in to an instrumental version of Marry Me.

  • The WP is walking in to Canon in D and I'm walking in to Storybook Love from the Princess Bride.

I haven't figured out any of the rest of the music yet. I'm meeting with my friend (and her string quartet) in January for them to play some songs for me to pick for other parts of the ceremony.

    That's awesome! lol

I honestly don't care whwat my violinist plays as long as it is not a traditional wedding march. I have know him for years and trust his judgement completely! The wedding party will have a different song than myself however.

  • I'm walking down the aisle to canon in d as well!  It's one of my favorite classical songs.  I really really want to use true believers for our recessional song, but I don't know if we will or not.

If I could have my way, the wedding party would walk in to an instrumental version of 1000 years.  I don't know what they'll walk in to yet though.

  • We are not walking down to the traditional wedding music. I am posting from my phone but when I get home I will post my rough draft of a play list.

  • You've probably read what we're doing before because I'm ridiculously excited about it and have Awed it around this board :)  But in case you forgot...

Processional: "You Are" by Lional Richie
Bridal Processional: before I walk down the aisle, the singer will sing the first verse of "Inseparable" then the piano only will continue as I walk down.  The piano will end just before the bridge (high point of the song).
Recessional: The bridge of "Inseparable" to the end of the song.

The ceremony music will be performed by a singer and piano player from my college.

  • The bridal party and I are all walking in to a string quartet version (with electric guitar covering 1st violin) of Journey's Don't Stop Believing.  (think like The Wedding Singer....except I'm not standing my groom up at the alter....I just love that song and have wanted it for as long as I can remember)

The parents will be ushered in to Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring.
My sisters are going to sing a song called "Love Is" in place of one of the readings.  It's based on the "Love is Patient, Love is Kind" bible verses.
My sisters will also sing "Parents Prayer" during the unity ceremony (probably sand).
Recessional will probably be Ode to Joy or Trumpet Voluntary on piano.

One thing that could mess things up is my cellist/pianist is pregnant and due 2 weeks before the wedding.  I am crossing my fingers that she has the baby on time and there are no complications.  If she can't make it, one of my sisters will fillin on piano, and a friend will play his electric bass to replace the cello.

I have a few things picked out. My MOH is also the soloist and she will be singing "Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts. The bm/gm song will be a piano version of "Marry Me" by Train. (Unless I change my mind and want it for myself!) I have also added the radio version to our dj playlist for the reception. Our recessional is going to be the Monkee's version of "I'm a Believer" played over the speakers. This was redone for the movie Shrek by another artist. I need to figure out what other songs to have my brother play on the piano while guests are being seated. I haven't had anything that just wows me yet for my own song.
