How many programs?

So I am DIY my programs and they will take me a while to make (aka I can't wait until I have all of my RSVPs to make them).  I am inviting about 260 people, but I know not all will come and not all guests will take one.  Does anyone have any advice from experience about how many I should make?  Thanks a lot!

    Rule of thumb tends to be one per couple/family...I'd maybe make a few (but not many) extra than that though since some couples/families may accidentally get more than one. We followed that idea and still had a lot left over.

    I tried to do one for every 2 guests or per family. If the families were larger, I did 2 per family. I also had a few extras available jic. It worked really well. We only had a couple left over. I waited to make mine till I had a pretty accurate head count. It saved time and materials not having to make one for people who were not there.

    Honestly, I think you'll have to wait and see how many people you end up with and how many kids that entails.  One per couple is probably a good rule of thumb plus 1 or 2 extra for families with bigger kids.

    We had a total of 198 guest. I made 100 programs and had about 15-20 left over.

    Thanks for the input!  I think I will make about a hundred or so ahead of time and then wait for my RSVP's  to decide on how many above and beyond that.  They are going to be fan programs at an outdoor wedding so I think more people might take them than normal...but we'll see!
