Chicago Venue-Affordable for 200

We just got engaged and are looking for an affordable wedding venue in the city for around 200 people on a Sat night in 2013.  Any recommendations on venues/caterers and/or negotiating techniques welcomed!

  • Everyone's definition of what is affordable is different. If you could share your budget range, we'll be able to give you better suggestions.
  • Thanks! I am hoping to stay around 100-115/person
  • Heather, your range per person gives you a lot of options!

  • We are looking in the city.  Any recommendations would be wonderful!
  • Hi Heather,

Your budget can get you a lot. I booked with LOL (Loft on Lake) in the West Loop. The cost is $4,000 for a Sat. wedding. This gives you 10 hours and they are very easy to work with. They have a list of 20 or so catering companies that you can also work with so that gives you lots of options.

Thsi venue is BYOB which also help so so so much with a budget.

One thing is that you do need to bring everything into the venue... tables, chairs, linens, the whole 9 yards, but all of the catering companies are aware of that.

Check them out they are great.

    Hope this helps,

    Ashley
  • I'm not sure if they can quite fit 200, but I'm doing my wedding in the city at Mrs. Murphy and Sons. I'd call it quite affordable.
  • I'm around the same price point and guest list.  Our top two choices were Pazzo's at 311 (which we ended up going with) and Grand Piazza.  I also liked Carnivale, but I think it's over that price range.

In my experience, there's very little negotiating in Chicago.  There are too many brides who will take your slot and pay asking price.  More than a year out, we still had to fight for a date...
