1 or 2 photographers

Just curious how many of yall had 1 or 2 photographers at your wedding or if you are going to. I met with potential photographers today and loved both of them. One of the studios you get a photographer and and assistant. However they don't have as much experience as the other studio. Their pictures together were still very nice. The other studio's photograher has a few more years of experience but it would be just her at the wedding. I enjoyed both studio's photographers personalites and could see us working with either one. Their prices were also about the same. So what I am trying to get at is do I got with the studio with two less experienced but good photographers or do I go with the 1 good experienced photographer? Do I really need two? What do yall suggest?

general rule is if you are having anything more than 100 guests you should def have 2 photographers.

I am having two photogs. I hired a husband and wife team. I would def. consider getting two photogs, especially if you are going to have a lot of guests. I like having two because the guy will be with FI when he's getting ready and the lady will be with me when I'm getting ready. I think it's worth having two. One might get a shot that the other could of missed. You don't need two, but I like to think I'm doubling my investment by having two. In the end it's up to you and your FI. As well as if it's in your budget.

I hired a husband and wife duo as well. We have 250 guests and quite a bit of must-take photos. The wife will be with me and my BM and the husband will be with GM and FI. Much easier and worth it.

Is it an "assistant" or a "second photographer"? Typically the assistant does not shoot any pictures, they are just there to assist the main photographer in transporting gear and organizing the photos. If an assistant is shooting at all, it is usually for learning purposes and you should not expect a lot of extra pictures from them.

Check with the photographer and verify if this "assistant" is there to assist or shoot. If they are shooting ask about their level of experience.

Is it ridiculous to assume you could get two very experienced photographers in the same price range as the one you want to go with?
Ditto on the husband and wife teams... I hired one as well and they are really the way to go because they can charge less but you still get two photographers.

[QUOTE]I own a photography compnay... and I would NEVER send less then one photographer... EVER! Really... I miss the "kiss" all of the time... I "miss the "toast" all of the time... We do over 20 weddings a year with the BEST photographers ever! You miss stuff! It just happens! We NEVER send an "assistant". Always 2 photographers... assistants are useless. REAL photographers are priceless (yet still MISS stuff). ALWAYS 2!
