First Dance Question

FI, for whatever reason, wants our first dance to be to a Tchakovsky waltz because we both love Tchakovsky. I think it's a bit too pompous and impersonal, and a first dance should be more intimate and have words. But he's insistant, and since he's been very go-with-my wishes on nearly everything else, I feel like I should just say "ok".

As a guest, would you think an orchestral waltz as a first dance is weird?

Re: First Dance Question

  • For me, it would be unuusal. If it's your thing with you and Fi, I say go for it! I just don't know anyone that's into classical music, so it would be a different song choice.

  • Can you tie it in and do a mash up between the one he wants and the one you want?
  • I thought about the mashup possibility, but everytime I've heard that done it never sounds good. And the song i'd want would not go well with the classical.

  • I think it'd be memorable, but if you're going to do a waltz, make sure you KNOW how to waltz. You'll probably have to take some dance lessons if you don't already.
