Reception Venues, Williamsburg

Hello ladies,

I'm looking for an affordable reception venue in Williamsburg for next June.  We're getting married at the Wren Chapel at William & Mary.

Does anyone have any ideas other than the Community Building or Legacy Hall?  Thanks!

I'm not sure how close it is to William & Mary but I just went to a wedding in May at Ford's Colony Marriott, the reception was held in a glassed in porch over looking the golf course, it was gorgeous!

No idea about the pricing though...

My FI and I are getting married this summer at the W&M Alumni House...if you're having a small-ish (120 or less) wedding than I would highly recommend it! :) There's also some great golf courses and country clubs in the area that would be good for a reception. HTH!

The Fords Colony Country Club is really great, not sure how affordable it is.

Check with colonial heritage and twin rivers also.  Not sure on pricing.  There are also a couple B&B's that can hold about 100 people outside.  Also the crowne plaza has banquet rooms.  You may check with the Ramada 1776 as well.  I know they have baquet rooms and we were actually supposed to have our RD there, but they closed for the winter due to low numbers, but were still planning on running in the summer when tourism increased.

I wouldn't suggest colonial williamsburg, you can check my bio or email me for more information.  Unless they've since fired Kathy and Erin, that may help the way they run things now.

A friend of mine is planning her wedding at the Great Wolf Lodge and says they are affordable and offer great discounts for guest rooms. If you want an outdoor wedding try some of the gardens in Colonial Williamsburg.

If you don't mind driving a few more miles, the Kiln Creek Golf Club & Resort in Newport News Has a nice banquet area upstairs and great prices on the food. I'm getting married outside at the Virginia Living Museum with the reception inside with a view of the live fish, sea turtle, and various animals.

Colonial heritage *is* beautiful but the food & beverage minimums were way out of my pice range!

Thank you ladies!! I knew you wouldn't let me down.

The FI and I are still making phone calls, but I'll let you know what we decide.

If you think of anything else, keep the ideas coming!

We looked at the Holiday Inn on Richmond Road (they have a pretty nice, big ballroom). Good luck finding something! :)

The Alumni House offers a discount for alumni, my fiance and I are having our reception there in 2012 after a ceremony in the Sunken Gardens.
