New Orleans Honeymoon

We will be honeymooning in the French Quarter in New Orleans this July.  Anyone have suggestions on places we MUST see while there?  Also, we are looking for a reputable and affordable (inexpensive) photographer to take some honeymoon pics of us in NOLA.  Anyone have someone they know of?  Thanks!

I would also suggest posting this on the NOLA board if you haven't already.

We just got married in New Orleans in February and we already can't wait to go back!  Not sure what your price range is for affordable/inexpensive photographer but our photographer did a fantastic job for both our wedding and engagement pics and she's very popular with Nola brides http://www.jacquelinekay.com/. I think she would be in the $200-300 range for a 2-hour photoshoot around the FQ.  Sabree Hill is also well liked and known to be a little less expensive than average (I believe she charges by the hour for the kind of shoot you want).

New Orleans is a great place for a honeymoon.  I would recommend staying in the French Quarter.  July will be hotter than hot, so I also suggest staying at a hotel with a pool :-)  Royal Sonesta, Bourbon Orleans, Omni Royal and the Richelieu all have great pools.

There's a ton of stuff to do so I think it depends on your interests.  We've been there a dozen times and keep finding new things!  If you want more input, you can PM me with your interests and I'll get back to you.

    Happy Honeymoon!
  • We took a few tours when we were down there and they were great. One of them was just a general NO tour that went into the 9th ward, the garden district and neat some celebrity houses, some historic graveyards and through the french quarter. We also took a haunted tour which was amazing. It was walking through the French Quarter right after dark and through the historic haunted places and it was soooo creepy! We took a voodoo tour through the same company but it was terrible.
I agree with a previous poster though, in July it will be very very hot. We went in May and were sweating like crazy all the time. So plan accordingly.

  • I really enjoyed the jazz bruch at Commander's Palace.  You'll need reservations.
