If your ceremony is at the venue, are you having a rehearsal the night before?

Our venue recently told us they do "day of" rehearsals.  I was really disappointed as I was looking forward to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, so the BP could meet and our families could get excited for the wedding.

If you are getting married at your venue, what are you planning for the rehearsal?  Is it weird to do it the night before somewhere else, like in our backyard or at a restaurant (not sure how we'd coordinate this) before dinner?  Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks!

We did a brief rehearsal 2 days before. The venue was fine with it.

We just did our rehearsal tonight for our wedding on Saturday. We're getting married at our venue and the venue was totally fine with it.

I don't think we're doing a rehearsal... we'll probably just have a reherasal dinner and while we're there we'll go through the line-up in terms of what order everyone walks in and all that jazz.

I've been in a few weddings and it's never been a problem not having a rehearsal at all or having a rehearsal at a place other than the ceremony venue.

We got married on the beach, so I wanted to do a quick run thru, which the venue had no problem with us doing the day before. We actually did our RD at a resturant right near our venue.

I don't see anything weird about doing the rehearsal somewhere else, I think its always a good idea for everyone involved to be on the same page.

Aren't you getting married at The Palace? I'm having a rehearsal there the night before, but my wedding is also on a Friday night. I guess I could see if you're having a Saturday night wedding, that they might already have a wedding there on Friday night and can't have you there rehearsing...

We're having it day off. Not having a rehearsal dinner either because of logistics in getting most of the BP to NJ the night before the wedding.

Because of this we're hosting a brunch the day after the wedding.

We are having a rehearsal dinner, and going to go everything there. There is a wedding at my venue the night before, and I was told I could use another room to rehearse in...but at that point, what's the difference if I do it in a random room or in another place all together? Our rehearsal dinner room is ours for four hours and I know it doesn't take that long to eat...so we will have plenty of time to go over all the details there - or at least that's my plan.

We had it at the venue the day before the wedding (our wedding was a Sunday).  We got lucky that our officiant was also performing the wedding that Saturday evening, so he met us about an hour and a half before the Saturday wedding, did about a 30 minute rehearsal with us, and then we all hung out for about an hour before we headed over to the rehearsal dinner.

We are having a "celebration" dinner the night before and the day of the Rabbi is going to do a 5 minute rehearsal "you stand there you walk here" type thing.

We are getting married at the tides on a Friday night and we are doing a rehearsal on Wednesday.  They like to do it 2 days in advance in case something needs to be changed or fixed.

We will be having a rehersal at the venue. I believe the options are earlier in the afternoon though but understandable if they have a Friday wedding.

I am getting married on a Fri night so we are having rehearsal and dinner at my venue o Thurs night - no issues. Officianbt wil not be there but the cordinator has a packet of the officiants items to walk through. The dinner afterwards in the bar area - but Im only having like 30 people at my dinner rehearsal, but we didnt want to ruin the cocktail room and ballroom and we wanted separate area from normal restaurant. We cant do in ceremony room because they will be setting up.

Yup.  We are at the Palace and we are on a Friday too.  Michele said they do day of most of the time, but she said if they don't have a meeting for something else going on, we could rehearse there on Thursday night.  I'd really like to be there, or close by, because everyone is staying at the Doubletree...

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR THOUGHTS!  If we can't do it there, I'm hoping we can do it in the same room as the rehearsal dinner and at least go over the basics.  Anyway, I guess I'll be the last down the aisle so I won't see who messes up!  LOL.

As others are doing, we're having a rehearsal dinner the night before, but doing the rehearsal day of.  Honesty, it's just to quickly put everyone in order and tell them where to walk/sit, nothing too crazy so I'm ok with not actually rehearsing the night before.

We're going to have our rehearsal Friday afternoon at the venue "assuming the room doesn't get booked" between now and June 3rd. I don't think anyone will be booking it for a Friday afternoon, it's already booked for the evening. Then we'll have a dinner back at our house with our wedding party and readers (and their dates) and our immediate families. I'd like to have it at a restaurant, but we're paying for it ourselves and just can't foot the bill logistically with everything else we're paying for. We'll have nice BBQ witch chicken and pork, salads, beer and my famous sangria. I'm sure everyone will enjoy themselves.

I have no idea whats going to happen, but I have plenty of time to think it through.  We may have to do the rehearsal the day before the wedding (Thursday) and I am sure one person will have to miss it due to his living in another state.

I think that may be the plan.  Otherwise, I'm screwed!  lol

We had our RD at a different restaurant and just did the rehearsal there.  Everything went fine the day of.

I was in a wedding where they just did the rehearsal at the rehearsal dinner location, and really, it was fine!

</div><div>Yeah, that's so weird!? I asked my event planner if we could schedule it for Thursday at 7 pm and there was no problem at all....we're having our RD at Girasole which is less than 10 minutes away if you're looking for a good restaurant. I've heard nothing but good things about the food!
