Sample sale question

I am considering going to a sample sale this month, but trying to determine if it is worth my time. I believe most of the sample dresses they have on sale are size 10 and 12, with a few size 8. I am a street size 4, which I know probably puts me at least a 6 if not 8 in bridal size. My question is - has anoyne bought a sample sale dress and had it altered down 2 sizes? Did it work out ok? Or did you just have continuous issues with alterations, etc to get it to fit and look great.

Street size 4 petite here and label on dress says 12.  Go figure.  Said dress was was purchased at sample sale for less than half the original cost.  Get to the sample sale early!!!  You can get deep discounts.  It's definitely worth looking and you don't have to spend a lot of time if you don't find any dresses you love.

Just be careful that the dress doesn't have any damage that can't be repaired, but a good dry cleaning can work wonders on any makeup stains and grime.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • Street size 6-8, dress is a size 14 sample and fits almost perfectly (straps and hem need to be shortened, I'm 5'2"). Definately worth looking at because I imagine that you could easily take it in at least a size or two. When you try it on, look for dresses that can be taken in, things that are less embellished will be easier.

  • I'm about the same street size and bridal size.

It's worth looking, even if you suspect the dresses will mostly be out of your size range- sometimes they sell cancellations at sample sales too
  • It's definitely worth a look. I bought my dress at a sample sale for 50% off.
