August outdoor wedding

I am trying to decide on a date. Any opinions on an outdoor wedding in August at night time of course????

Thanks

Do you currently live in Dallas?  It's HOT in August.  Just because the sun goes down does not mean the temperature drops.  I remember one time I had to run to the store at midnight.  It was still 100 degrees.

My opinion is that it is ill-advised.  Texas outdoors in August, even at night, is brutal.  If you have your heart set on an outdoor wedding, I would move it into fall.

Sorry, I wish I could be more positive.  :(

Don't do it!  My wedding was the same day as Kathy's.  It was miserably hot. Even at night.  August weddings need to be indoors.

Thanks for the replies. And yep I live in Texas? Do you ladies think Labor Day weekend would be ok for outdoors?

No.  I really think October would be the earliest I would think about it.

I'm with Stephanie. It really doesn't start cooling down at all until October time.

I agree with pp - my sister did an outdoor wedding in August and it was miserable. My family still talks about how horrible it was.  I think late September/October would be the earliest that would be even close to comfortable.

Are you completely set on an outdoor wedding?  There are a ton of venues that offer beautiful indoor spaces - if you want to keep your August date.  If you do decide to move your date to October, you might want to work on vendors ASAP.  October is an extremely popular wedding month in Dallas.  I remember trying to book a vendor in January for my late October date and they were already booked.  The venue I originally wanted booked the day before I called to 'reserve' it and that was an entire year before my wedding.

    Deja Vu?

If you do have it in the summer I would include these key aspects in your wedding:
    -Beverages when the guests arrive
    -Fans
    -Ice

i agree with looking for a venue that has an outdoor feel or where guests have the option of going inside. i LOVED this place, but it was booked on my date. http://www.marie-gabrielle.com/

I would even try for a spring wedding (however take into consideration crazy rainy/stormy weather we sometimes have). April-May I would think would be a great time for an outdoor wedding.

My wedding is in August in TX and outdoors... Ceremony is at 7... The thing is its on a lake.. and the wind always picks up after dark on the lake... It will be warm sure it is august in tx but it should still be comfortabe.  but i love summer.  so that could have something to do with my bias...
