Flower Question

Hi everyone!

I've just started working with our florist on my bouquet and am wondering if any of you have experience with the flowers I'm hoping to use.

I had my heart set on a mixture of peonies, roses and hydrangea, however, my florist has told me that they would need to order in the peonies from Israel at that time of year (April) and that they won't be able to guarantee their quality as they are so delicate.

I really appreciate her being so upfront about it, but just wanted to check in to see if any of you have used peonies in your bouquet and if so what your experience was? She recommended english garden roses in place of the peonies. Has anyone used these?

Thanks in advance!

I feel your pain, I wanted my lei to be pikake, but they were out of season, so I had to do something else. Ultimately, if they're out of season, they're out of season. For us, they're in season in May (and some of June), but other times of the year, you're pretty much out of luck.

Personally, I LOVE garden roses. They're super romantic.

I asked for peonies for May wedding and they were pretty small and disappointing :(  I love garden roses -- would totally use garden roses instead if they were better.

Thanks - I think it will probably work out best if I go with the garden roses. I've found some pretty samples featuring them today so I'm feeling a little better about not having the peonies :)

Well, it all depends on where you're getting married, right? They're in full bloom in Toronto, but we're also not a tropical climate (although, with the humidex today, it feels like we are). They also don't ship very well, so if no one is growing them on the islands, you're not likely to get them at their peak.

I also wanted peonies but they weren't in season in October either. I went with roses and ranunculus.

i wanted to use peonies too, but the florist recommended garden roses because they will definitely be in season.  i just looove peonies, but i don't want to order them and they aren't the color i want or its not available.  The garden roses do have the feel of peonies :)
