Bridemaid Dresses

My wedding is January 21, 2010 in Florida (Ocala to be exact). I was wondering what everyone thought about possibly having the bmaids wear cocktail (knee length) dresses? We would look into shawls and the reception is definitely inside. I am just worried about being thought of as a bridezilla because I like cocktail length dresses better. Since it is in Florida you never can tell what the weather will be in Jan. Some years it is 20 degrees and others it is 80! What's a bride to do? We have two ceremony sites picked out (one indoors and one out) due to weather so there is a possibility that the ceremony will be outside.

Thanks!
Amanda

Re: Bridemaid Dresses

  • As long as they're inside and you've got a decent heating system, I think it's ok.  They can wear stockings.    Don't make them wear the short dresses if the ceremony will be outside.  Just use the indoor location you already have booked.

  • Short dresses are fine--my ladies wore them on January 17 in Tennessee. It was a balmy 50 degrees and pouring. :)

Go with your indoor site. If the weather's great, you'll be able to take lots of fun photos outside too.
  • I don't think the weather or time of year influences the dresses as much as the color and fabric would.  So basically don't pick a light pink chiffon for January :-)  If its that cold out I don't think a longer gown vs short cocktail dress will make that much of a difference.  If there is the chance of it being too cold I think an indoor plan is better than adding some dress length.
  • short dresses are fine!
  • may help you
Please check out the site...some of it wedding dresses related.
