Prenup Lawyer recommendations?

Hi brides-

My fiance and I are planning to do our prenup, but I don't know where to start with finding a lawyer. A Google search for "Seattle prenuptial lawyers" brings up many options, of which I am not certain how to choose.

Do any of you have strong recommendations? I am also curious what the total cost was if you did one?

Thanks!

Rosie

I met with a lawyer at Seattle Divorce Services and thought she was fantastic.

We choose not to get a pre-nup but it was going to be around 2500 for us. We had a pretty complicated situation though.

If its simple, it might be something you can do yourself.  There are usually DIY forms/kits.  You can also get referals from the bar association.  There is the WSBA and there is one for each county.

If you have a complicated situation, I recommend you both get your own lawyer. They can help you keep perspective, keep you out of any arguing, and they ensure no one's being favored in the process.

FI and I just got ours, a bit last minute too since our wedding is next weekend and you need it at the very least a week beforehand.  I believe separate lawyers are actually required.  We are on the Eastside so I am not sure our lawyers would work for you, but I do recommend that when searching you look for someone who specializes in collaborative law/divorce.  It's a much less aggressive approach, closer to mediation.  HTH!

carol bailey and associates are the best in seattle, - I would also recommend :
    Mark Wiess
    Linda Roubik
    Doug Becker
    Lisa Reed

seperate lawyers are not required but are usually a good idea.
