1 month to go, and doubting the dress!

Has anyone else questioned whether they chose the right dress? I can't decide if this is just wedding-day countdown stress, or if I seriously need to look for a new dress.

I loved it when I first found it, danced for joy. Now I look in the mirror and all I see is everything I don't like. Just wondering if this is normal and how I can shake myself out of it.

Main area of concern is that I am very top heavy, and the dress emphasizes my bust rather than de-emphasizing it. When I look in the mirror, all I can think is "wow, look at those hooters." I'm normally a conservative dresser, so a lot of it could just be that I'm not used to showing that much cleavage.

Mom says I'm gorgeous, but that's what mom's are supposed to say.

Just wondering if anyone has been through this same thing.

  • Don't second guess yourself or you will go crazy.  If your girls are your biggest concern try getting a new bra that will smash them down or maybe get a cover up for the reception.  I am sure you are going to look beautiful and people are going to be looking at your face, not your boozies!  ...and if they do, your new husband and smack them!  ha!
  • I know exactly how you feel. I went in today to try my dress on for the first time since I purchased it, and I left feeling disappointed and stressed.  I'm about two months out and know that I can't afford to buy a new dress, nor do I have the time to look for a new one. I have lost some weight and the dress is way to big, it still hasn't been altered, so I don't think I'm seeing it in the right light. You may be experiencing this as well. My hopes are that the day of the wedding when I have my hair done, make-up, and jewlery on, and my dress fits right, I will be excited again.  Hopefully this will happen for you too.
  • You must have liked the dress enough to get it the first time.  Try to pick out the things that you really love about it.  With one month to go, there's not really a possibility of getting a new dress, plus it'd be expensive.  There are parts of your dress you fell in love with the first time, so try to focus in on them!
  • Thanks everyone, it's reassuring to hear that I'm not the only one who has felt this as the wedding day approaches. I will not look at it again until THE DAY, and when I put it on, I'll remember how happy I felt the first time I put it on.

    Deep breath... chill out...
  • I am doing the same thing and I even did a post about it on a differnet board. But I love my dress. Just think of why you picked the dress in the beginning. And seriously will your FI really notice the difference?
