Non-beach Venue in Tampa Bay area

Hi,

I'm getting married next summer. Originally I had planned to have everything up in Pensacola where my family is from, but just this week my fiance and I decided to have it here in Tampa Bay (where we live now). Sooo I'm starting completely over with planning. We're going to have lots of out of town guests, and I want to make it both comfortable and fun for them to come, so I'd like it close to the water or beach, but I don't want to have it ON the beach (I really hate sand...). Anyone know of any venues that you can have both wedding and reception? We'll be having around 150 guests and we'd like to keep the entire wedding under $10,000.

Thanks!

The St. Pete and Clearwater Rec Center are on the water but not the sand if you want outdoors. Also try cross creek ranch. They are very affordable or Rusty Pelican.

Also check Tampa Bay Watch. They have a lawn on the water if that is more your taste. http://tampabaywatch.org/
You can bring in your own caterer and provide your own bar, which can really help with costs! We almost went with them, everyone there is wonderful.

From Pensacola and living in Tampa too!  When the BP Oil Spill occured I looked into the following non-beach venues: Davis Island Garden Club, Tampa Garden Club, University of Tampa, Sunken Gardens (St. Pete), Lakewood Ranch Country Club (Sarasota), The Florida Aquarium.  The possibilities are endless.

The two places that came to my mind are Cross Creek Ranch (in Dover, near Brandon) or Sunken Gardens in St. Pete.

Check out the Davis Island Garden Club! It's right by downtown Tampa and the outside gazebo/garden area is on the water. I got married there and haves some pictures in my planning bio. All of our out of town guests stayed nearby at the Embassy Suites in Downtown Tamap and they really liked the area.
