Workout Accountability: Friday

TGIF!  How is everyone today?

Kempo was rough, simply because FI and I had no energy.  We stuffed envelopes yesterday, only to find more errors from the calligrapher (grr), took care of our dog's infected foot, and were just too tired after it all to deal with it - but we pushed through.  So I ended up making TJ's pesto tortellini as a treat for us for dinner.

Today is a rest day, thankfully.  Today is also my appointment with my knee doctor, so my fingers crossed for good news there.  
Saturday will be the start of week 6 doubles - cardio x in the morning and abs, biceps, chest, shoulders in the afternoon.  Sunday is plyo.  We're going to be eating super well this weekend in preparation for all of the 4th of July goodies next week.

    Lobsters Your dinner sounds tasty!  I ended up making a coconut curry with my chickpeas last night it was super good.

    Last night was my second spin class of the week, I usually dont do spin on thursday but really wanted to add an extra one in, I got to the gym about 5 mins before I thought  the class starts only to find out that on thursdays they start at 6 not 7pm when I arrived...lame!
    I tried to do my own spin routine but it wasn't the same as a class, I then pushed myself on the pullup machine but overall I am disappointed.

    this weekend is a long one (Canada day on Monday) so FI and I are filling it up with the Toronto Pride parade, fire works, long walks, a beach trip and of course..wedding planning.

    Happy Weekend all, and extra props to the other Cannucks on here who also get to enjoy a long weekend.

    That sounds rough :( I hope your puppy is okay!!

    I got a bonus 2 mile walk in last night, but I did slplurg on the starches :( Today i a new day ;)

  • Yesterday I got a walk in with co-workers in the afternoon and that was it. The kickoff meeting for the volunteer project I'm working on went well, but the food they had was awful  - I wish I had just brought a protein bar or something, ended up eating a hotdog, cheetos and a freakin' cupcake. 

    My friend who got me involved with the project wanted to hang out afterwards and I ended up sharing an alcoholic beverage with her...so that also didn't help. I didn't go too far over my calories for the day, but it definitely was not my best day.

    Tonight I'm hitting the gym, and hopefully dragging FI along. He was complaining that the gym the other day made him sore, and I told him that meant he should be going more :). I'd also like to get some disk golf in after the gym, but it sounds like a friend of FI's is coming in from out of town, so I imagine we're going to be going to a bar to hang out with his friend.

  • entropic - Ha, I know what you mean with FI complaining about the gym. Mine says the same thing when I've taken him along, and I tell him the same thing. :-)

    Last night FI and I went for another 45 minute walk. I had done some intervals before he met me. Felt good to run again! I also persevered and woke up early again this morning to do my 30 Day Shred! :-) Contemplating not doing it this weekend, but I feel like that would be a bad decision. Fear Monday would roll around and my body would be like, "You want me to get up NOW? No no no." So, probably will get up and still do it tomorrow. Won't be able to do it Sunday morning, but maybe Sunday afternoon.

    FI and I have date night tonight, so I'll go home and change after work and he is going to pick me up and take me to dinner and a movie. My pick for the movie! :-)

  • Yesturday I didnt eat the best but I take a very nasty medication one day a week and allow myself a treat due to that, I also woke up with a migraine :/. I however made up for it by doing lots of meeting set up and take down and 50 minutes on my bike on the trainer.

  • Yesterday I took the day off, and didn't allow myself to feel bad about it. 

     FI spent the night/day with me (he lives about an hour from where I do) so I just set out to enjoy the day with him.  Amusingly, most of it was spent shopping as I tried to find a bunch of khaki pants that wouldn't fall apart when I play with the ponies next week.  We ate "bad", but I was conscientious about how I ate.  Like for dinner we went to Red Robin and I ordered fish and chips.  Not healthy, but I felt full about half way through so I just stopped eating.  Still doesn't make it healthier, but at least I didn't scarf down the whole plate like I would have in the past.

    Today I'll get back in the gym and get some cleaner eating in.  But yesterday was nice :)  

    I also weighed in yesterday.  No more weight lost, but some of my measurements are down from last week so I'm MOVING that way.  Just gotta get everything back in gear so it starts burning efficiently again!
  • Hi Ladies!

    Woke up early to do a "Roof Top Yoga" class at the gym (on the outdoor pool deck - sounds great, right?) and was really dissapointed in it. The instructor was awful and given it was right downtown Chicago - the noise from the buses made it difficult to hear the instructor and the exhaust made it difficult to breath. Ugh - will not be doing that again. Only burned 206 calories - so now I feel like I have to do something after work. If I am waking up at 5:45 - I want to burn some calories!

    Anyway - have my healthy meals packed for the day and since it is Friday - we get summer hours today (can leave around 2:30) so I may try to go for a run/walk near the lake.

  • Since I ran 7 miles yesterday my FI and I got ice cream (again) - I got a scoop of Oatmeal Cookie w/ butterscotch...it was SO good, although not as good as the Cake Pop ice cream from the night before haha - this running thing sure does have it's benefits!

    No workouts for me today, but tomorrow morning I'm going to try to get in 8 miles before it gets too hot out here.  It's not so much the heat as the humidity, but I really need to get this long run in.  That evening is my MOH's bachelorette party (at my house) so we'll be boozing it up.  I already found a yummy salad to order at the restaurant we're going to so I'm happy.  Although I KNOW if we get wild there will be late night coney dogs or sliders and fries haha.

    Sunday, if I'm not super hungover, I would like to do a short 3 mile run.  Then we have kickball and at night we're going to this local bar to watch the fireworks.  I plan to eat beforehad and bring one of my favorite fiber bars to snack on since I know everyone else will be nomming on delicious food.  Or I might get like a chicken quesadilla with light cheese.  I haven't decided :)

  • Today is a rest day for me, I needed the sleep. Tomorrow we are off to hike doing about 6 miles that should be good. We need to get more hikes in to prepare for the homey moon. I weighed I this morning and I am 2 pounds away from having lost 20 pounds. The original goal was 25 by the wedding, I don't think I can lose 7 pounds in 5 weeks but thats ok I'm thrilled with the weight loss so far.

  • I did a kettlebell workout this morning for a half hour - dang you, 6 AM class! But I feel awesome. Got my 40 min. of walking in yesterday and the day prior...also took an extra walk with the FI last night in the balmy weather. Ready to walk today as well and eat HEALTHY - besides the scone I made for breakfast. :)
  • alo-I need to go to that ice cream place.  oatmeal and butterscotch is my favorite combo.

    So, I need to vent. 
    So far today, my brother's good childhood friend passed away (late 20s), my grandmother had a 15 minute seizure and was sent to the hospital and is now finally being admitted to hospice care fulltime, my mother mailed a serious legal doc incorrectly and was trying to get my help while I was in a conf call (happy to help, but for the third time, I can't pick up the phone woman!), and the doc is having me do a anthro mri because he thinks my old knee problem is back (which will mean surgery) and told me to cut back on the workouts. 

    When he told me I needed to take it easy, I really thought I was going to cry - the intensive workout schedule is the only thing still holding me together at this point.  I feel like a terrible person, because that was what impacted me the most today.
    Oh, and then work imploded on my lap while I was at the appointment. Fun.

  • Lobsters, I'm so sorry to hear about your nasty Friday! I would be ready to cry, too. Take care of yourself and keep us updated on how your knee is doing.  Enjoy your weekend with your FI!

    I got in a good 4 mi. walk yesterday after dinner and then treated myself to a little ice cream with hot fudge... and caramel sauce... and strawberries. I try to eat out of a quarter cup measuring cup when I'm indulging but I'm pretty sure I slathered enough calories onto my ice cream to make it completely outrageous!

    This morning I did 30DS, day one of level 3 with 8 pound weights. It was rough but not as bad as I feared. Now I'm thinking I need to invest in heavier weights...

  • Oh Lobsters :( I am so sorry for all the stress you are under :(
    Definitely get that icecream and maybe have a good cry. No that wont fix your problems, but taking a nap after always help clear my head when everything becomes too much.

  • aw, thanks ladies.  I'm doing okay, but might swap tonight's dinner plans for ice cream for dinner :)
