Response Card Wording Help Please!

Lovely ladies and possibly a gentleman or two,
Below is my first draft of a response card (the cardstock is silver and the ink is navy). There are so many different ways to word the response card and so many different etiquette rules that it can get so tricky. I need advice on my response card if you'd be so kind! The following is important to me regarding the response card:
1. I want it to illustrate that this wedding is a more formal event.
2. I REALLY want to know how many guests are coming to make sure we get the head count correct, have enough seats, etc.
3. I need to know who wants chicken and who wants vegetarian for their entree.
Please let me know how it looks, how the wording sounds, any suggestions to improve, etc. Thank you so much for any feedback you can provide!

  • looks good to me. looks elegant and formal like you want, yet straight to the point and not confusing.
  • The only change I would make is to revise the meal choice to read "Please initial each guest's entree choice" - that way you know who needs each meal if there is more than one person RSVPing per card.

I agree with this, because I would have wrote "2 Chickens", and it sounds like you want to know exactly who wants which meal.  "Please initial" helps solve that issue.

<div>That's what I did.  Also, I don't think you need the line "Number of guests." You'll be able to figure that out by how many of each meal are requested. Plus that line, IMO, opens up the door for people to add on guests. Don't you know how many people would be responding based upon how many you are inviting, though? If 2 people are listed on the invite, the RSVP will be for 2 people. Usually if 1 can make it and the other one cannot, the guests indicate it on the RSVP card. For example, I recently went to a wedding without J. I wrote my name on the line and checked of the Accepts line. I then wrote a note in the corner saying that J was sorry that he would be unable to attend to help make it clear that it was only 1 attending, not the 2 invited.</div><div>
    </div><div>I hope that made sense!</div>

  • I think the # of guests line isn't necessary.

And I'm not a fan of 'with pleasure' and 'with regret' either.  I'm not offended by them but they're presumptuous phrases.
