I looked at Stow Acres for my reception and while the room is nice and they have a separate cocktail room/wrap-around porch I thought that it was a little outdated and in need of some updating.

The coordinator there, I think Nadine, was extremely helpful and very responsive when I was trying to decide on places to look and make appointments.

I ended up going with Butternut Farm Golf Club, which is about 5 minutes away from Stow Acres, but a lot more updated.

On another note their golf school is awesome!  I highly recommend it!

I also looked at Stowe and something about the room we didn't like. We loved Butternut Farms and I know a friend that got married there as well. We didn't picked it because we ended up with a Hotel venue.  Defintely go see Butternut Farms since your going to stowe and their so close. Good luck.

    Yes- Don't waste your time!

I was really interested in the place, so I sent the wedding coordinator an email with a couple basic questions. I never heard back from her, so I filled out the generic event form requesting more information. This she responds to; she sends me some really basic info along with a few pictures. I email her back and ask her some questions about the info she gave me. Never heard back from her. So I figured that they didn't really care about getting our business, and crossed the place off my list.

it is where I am getting married!!!!!!  They were great with me!  They mailed me a brochure with more info than any other place!!  I made an appointment and they were really nice!!!  yes it is more "dated"...it is a victorian and it is decorated as such. Their prices are great and I am really excited!

Hi there! I am excited to hear you are getting married at Stow Acres as me and my boyfriend (soon to be engaged!)are strongly considering them as a venue for oct. 2012. We visited it and really liked it and it's budget friendly. However, our only reservation was with Nadine and I wanted to ask you what your feelings have been with her thus far. She was a bit edgy with us, didn't email me back a few times about some questions I had and that is worrisome to me if I'm going to book at a place --I'll want to be rest assured that any and all questions will be answered right away, details can be arranged without issue, etc. Have you encountered any problems thus far if you don't mind me asking? Also do you just work with NAdine or also her assistant? Thanks...not sure how this post thing works too but hopefully I'll hear back from you? Renee :)

I met with her assistant when i booked...and she was super friendly....i have emailed Nadine with multiple questions and she has emailed me back promptly every time.  We went for our tasting a couple weeks ago and the food was good!  Nadine was really nice while we were there, answering more questions...its been the one thing i haven't stressed over at all.

the only thing i have found  a bit odd (but really not a big deal) is that the woman's bathroom is in the "bridal lounge" ....

Thanks for your response...I was hoping that I could meet with her Asst. instead (I saw her in the background) as Nadine was a little rough around the edges and just the few times I've emailed her there have been LONG delays (at least a week or so) before hearing back so I have concerns with that. But I guess it's a little reassuring to hear from you that you haven't had any issues. I tend to be someone that will have a lot of questions and details to be incorporated so I worry about that stuff. When are you getting married by the way? Who are you using for photographer/DJ if you dont' mind me asking and are they affordable?

Also...about the "bridal lounge"...another concern of mine! I know it's large but if you have a large bridal party...how will they deal with that? Where will you hang your accessories/put all your stuff? Will they petition it off or something? I heard there is a tiny room upstairs too that's like a closet though....
