mini-moon cabin help

My FI and I are taking a mini-moon after our June wedding as the honeymoon will be in September.

We are interested in renting a cabin for a few nights that's secluded, but also is close to a town or something.  We'd like to canoe to bars, and grill on the deck, go for a hike, maybe hang out in town a bit.

Any recommendations?  I heard Bayfield is nice...any particular resorts?  Other areas?

I live in Eagle River...if you rent a cabin on the chain, you have 28 lakes to boat through!  There is also a nice secluded chain of 5 lakes right by my house...you can rent cabins at my FI's fam's resort (but I believe they are fairly pricey).  Check out Eagle River or Minocqua area, it is gorgeous up here!!

FI's family resort is pitliks....I dont know the website, but just google pitliks sand beach resort, sugar camp WI

I went to school up in Ashland which is right by Bayfield. LOVE IT UP THERE! Bayfield is a cute tourist-y town with cute little shops and restaurants. There are some spas and stuff like that in town. There are also 2 casinos in the area, or you can drive an hour east and be in MI or an hour west and be in MN. There's a zoo in Duluth MN, shopping, cool downtown area...  There is a ferry that goes to Madeline Island that has lodging, restaurants, etc. I haven't stayed on the Island, but I that may be a little more secluded. Not sure about other cabin rentals, but the area is beautiful!!
I finally took my FI up there last winter otherwise I would have suggested it for our mini-moon!!

Try this site, their cabins are beautiful and the area is central to a lot of things.

Tons of Cabins in Door County (more of a honey moon area), Wisconsin Dells (can be secluded, but very touristy, lots to do in town), or Lake Geneva has TONS of B&B's you can look into.
My Fiance and I were also looking at doing a "mini-moon", I just googled Wisconsin B&B's on the Map tab and it will give you a lot of options, most with websites and ratings.

I second the Door County post.  Best mini-vaca I have ever taken.  The wineries are excellent fun and you get to bum around and enjoy yourself.  Make sure you check out a fish boil too!

We're going on our mini-moon to the Apostle Islands.  We're staying in a cabin near the water on Madeline Island.  Check out "The Inn on Madeline Island"  They've got hotel lodgings and cabins of all kinds. The people there have been nothing but helpful and friendly.  They have scuba, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and so much more.  We are VERY excited.  Good luck!
