engagement party... HELP

Hey brides!!!
 So my fiance and I decided we wanted to have an engagement party, as were getting things together people have been asking lots of questions, how does this all work.....
Do we tell them our registry???
How do most people set theirs up


I dont know, were going to have it at a park that we like to take our dogs too... I wanted it fun but still classy... ANY SUGGESTIONS HELP!!!!!!!!

    No you don't ever tell them your registry because it is asking for too much, engagement party, bridal shower, wedding ... gets expensive for guests and you don't want them to think you are trying to get gifts from people. 

    I had the same problem and what I did was create TheKnot website and added the link on my invitation.. Our engagement party is going to be very very casual because our wedding is very very formal so we wanted to have fun! I

     have some guests asking my FI and I where we registered  so I used my website as a direction. The website is a way to show them details about the wedding as well as where I am registered.. for those who want to get gifts :)

    technically, your not suppose to throw your own party in your favor.  I would just have a casual BBQ.  Or if you can get one of your family members to throw it for you, then you can call it an engagement party.

    Do not mention gifts, engagement parties aren't gift giving events.  Most people just bought a card, or even a bottle of wine, or a small photo frame.

    I agree with Charlsie on all points.  Someone should really host your E-party for you, but I love parties as much as the next gal.  So have one, maybe ask you folks.  I told my mom I wanted to have an E-party and she was super excited to host it for us and it was awesome at the folks house, wine, lasagna and the FMIL bought a costco cake. 

    Thinking back now, I would have just put no gifts please, on the invite. We mostly got wine but a few people asked where we were registered so we told them if they asked. Its wasn't about the gifts it was about sharing our big news with family and friends and wine :)

    My mother is throwing the engagement party. They live in the mountains, so it's mostly (ok, let's be realistic...all) her friends / my acquaintances.  However, they're people that most likely won't make it to the wedding because of distance, so I really am looking forward to it.  I just feel bad for my sweetie, because he hardly knows any of them.  Do you think bribing him with beer for him to come is wrong?

    I knew no gifts and never was going to put them on my invites so that wasnt the case, ppl were just asking me if that was something you did for an eparty... so I wanted to get everyones opinion on it... yeah I knew it would be tacky putting our registry on there and I DEF didnt because I knew you didnt but yeah......

    Any ideas from you ladies what to do at the Eparty... were having it at one of our favorite parks so we were thinking volleyball.... any other suggestions

    Ladder golf !! Love it, you can get it at target and maybe the bean bag toss.  I like any game you can play while holding a beer.
