  plum is more of a fall color. yes that would look weird. i would try brighter colors.

  I think it would be fine. You can lighten it up with lighter shades of lilac and ivory here-and-there, if you like, with plum & gold being the "main colors."

  ere some pictures from style me pretty- I think if its in the spring and at night then the colors really wont be that bad it you want to make it more spring like instead of gold do yellow

  I don't get why colors would look "weird." Really, nobody gives a hoot about what colors you use.
  
  Just use something you and FI like, and a BM dress color that is flattering on your BMs. That's all you have to worry about. Don't try and match the season or the reception hall or the church's carpet, otherwise you will drive yourself and your loved ones insane.

  absolutly it's fine! you can use any color you want, as an aside I'm a louisiana native and mardi gras is in march sometimes and those colors are purple green and gold, so those colors are super common their in march and april. I'd focus on the gold, and then add the plum as an accent to keep it light.

  It doesn't matter the season.  If you like the colors, use them.  I think that pallette is beautiful!  I like the idea of adding in white.  I agree that it won't look "weird" and your guest won't give a poo.
