Ever After Bridal?

Hi everyone! Just a nestie venturing over to ask a question I'm hoping someone has the answer to?

My sister consigned her dress to be sold at Ever After Bridal when it was located in Valley Junction. It was a gorgeous dress and worth a decent amt of money.  We stopped by the store a month later and they said they were moving to a new location, everything seemed legit.  Today she decided she wanted to go to the  new location to reclaim her dress since it hadn't sold in over a yr (she is an impossibly small size so not likely to appeal to many), and she decided to just keep it for sentimental value.

Went to the supposed new location - Grand Ave and it is GONE, building is empty.

Anyone have any idea what happened to them?  They seemed nice and legit, but that is completely shaddy that they never said anything to the 100's of girls whose dresses they were holding on to for sale.

Thanks for any insight!

Wow, that stinks. I would google them to see if they went to a new location. If not maybe see if you can call the Better Business Bureau and see if they have contact info.

    Hi,
Tell your sister the same thing happened to me.  I just submitted a complaint to the attorney general's office and I advise you to do the same thing.  This is straight out fraud.

Go here to submit a claim:
    http://www.state.ia.us/government/ag/file_complaint/online_2.html

Please do so, if we all get together maybe we can get our money or dresses back.

My dress went MIA as well. The name of the woman who I worked with at the store was Susan Sutherland and the former number was 515-277-1886....

If you see the bottom of my claim you will see that there are multiple complaints online and a warning on the Better Business Bureau web site. Looks like we may be out of luck ladies :(

I just sent this claim to the attorney generals office:

On 7/7/09 I contacted "Susan Sutherland" via phone about consigning my wedding dress.

The same day "Susan" sent me this email to confirm that she had found the online link to the same dress as the one that I had:

    Ruth:

Could you take a look at this link and see if this is your dress?  If this is your dress, then we are probably looking at hopefully getting you around $200-$350 for it.  I always start high, and then the longer I have it, we may have to go down in price.  And just to be clear, this would be what we would be able to get you, after I have taken my consignment fee.  So, for example, I would probably start out putting it in the shop at $425 or $450 and if I was able to sell it for that, then after taking my fee, that would leave you probably $325.  Then of course the lower I go, the less we both make.  There's no fee if I don't sell the gown.I hope that makes sense.  Attached is the consignment agreement that I have everyone fill out.  The bottom part, where there is a place for item # and description, I fill that section out and  then get a copy back to you.  Also, the dress would always remain yours.  I would never donate it, etc.  You can always have it back, just with a 48 hour notice (and shipping time, since you are out of state).  Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

She then sent me the following agreement which I signed and mailed the agreement and the dress. She confirmed via email that she received the dress on 7/15/09.

Welcome! We’re pleased that you want to become a part of our shop. Here’s how it works:

When you bring your items in, we will select what our customers will buy.  Clothes must be neat and clean and must be formal wear. We are not a normal consignment shop.  We will be selling only formal wear items.  Sometimes there will be items we cannot sell. Please understand that our customers’ preferences must be our selection guidelines. We will get the best possible prices for you.  Commission will be taken by Ever After Bridal at the time of the sell, and will be based upon the price received for the item.  You will be notified when your item sells and when you will receive your payment.  Checks are generally mailed once per month.

All final pricing decisions will be made by Ever After Bridal.  We do have the right to refuse any item.  Our goal is to work with you to find an agreeable, realistic price for your item(s).  Remember, our ultimate goal should be selling the item at a reasonable price.  Although you will be asked the purchase price of your item, please remember that inflating this will not aid in selling your item, and only cause your merchandise to be overpriced, and therefore a sell will be unlikely.  Again, our goal should be selling your item at a reasonable price.

If you choose to pick up your merchandise, 48-hour notice is required.  There will be no pick up of items on Saturdays unless previous arrangements have been made.

Please realize it may take some time for items to sell.  If you plan on leaving your items for less than 3 months, be advised that you may be assessed a $25 pull fee to pick up your clothing.

We will do our best to safeguard your items, but we are not responsible for damage or loss to listed merchandise by fire, theft, accident or any other cause.

We look forward to a long and mutually profitable association with you. After all, we couldn’t do it without you, our partner in consigning!

I have read the above terms and agree with them.

On 7/15/09 "Susan" emailed me the following:

    Susan Sutherland eabridalboutique@yahoo.com

    to me
Just wanted you to know the dress arrived yesterday.  I haven't even had a chance to unbox it, but will get to that today.  Wanted you to know it was here, though.

I followed up with her via email with no response on: 12/23/09, 2/26/10, 4/17/10, and 8/5/10.

On 8/5/10 I received the following error message: Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

        eabridalboutique@yahoo.com

    Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 554 554 delivery error: dd This user doesn't have a yahoo.com account (eabridalboutique@yahoo.com) [-5] - mta1083.mail.sk1.yahoo.com (state 18).

Numerous time throughout 2009 and 2010 I tried to reach her by telephone with no answer. For awhile there was a recording that she had moved her store. Now when you dial the original number I spoke to her at in the beginning (515-277-1886) there is a busy tone.

I now see that there are two complaints at the Better Business Bureau
