skin HELP!

Since I was a teenager I have struggled with embarrassing HORRIBLE body acne. on my upper back and chest. Although its not really bad most of the time, its something I worry about for my wedding day. I found the dress of my dreams but Im worried about having pimples on my back and chest. It is actually THE ONLY thing I am worried about.
Before paying an arm and a leg for a dermatologist, I was wondering if anyone knew of something OTC that helps. I already use Neutrogena Acne Body Wash and that helps a bit. With a little over 5 months to go I thought I'd start trying to fix this now! ANYONE OUT THERE CAN HELP PLEASE?!

Re: skin HELP!

  • My daughter had pretty bad back acne and her dermatologist recommended using both Oxy 10 face wash and then using the Oxy 10 cleansing pads on her back and it has almost totally cleared it up.

Also, when she was in my wedding she wore a wrap so it wasn't an issue but my MUA mentioned she could airbrush her help hide some of it.  She airbrushed her makeup and my daughter's skin looked flawless.  So that is something that might be worth looking into if you plan to use airbrush makeup if it hasn't cleared up by then.
  • Try switching your detergent to something free of dyes and chemicals. (We use All Free & Clear.) This dramatically helped FIs back breakouts.

Also, interestingly enough, switching to plain ol' basic Dial bar soap helped a bunch.
  • Good advice from previous posters. :)
Also increase in your drinking of water and take a multivitamin if you're not already.

Also, Clinique has an acne antibacterial soap, you can get it at Sephora. I have Rosacea, which is often given similar treatments as acne. When I don't want to pay the cost of the prescription face wash I sometime get the Clinique and have good results.

After you've worked on clearing up your skin, you might consider getting a fake tan for the wedding. The tan will diguise some skin issues/blemishes.
  • I take 100mg doxycycline twice a day.  It's cleared my skin more than anything else ever has.  It cost me about $10 for 100 pills.  Get a prescription from your regular doc.
  • Thanks for posting this it really helped me as well. that acne.org website is amazing i wasted about 2 hours on that thing lol and all or yalls advice is wonderful I am calling my doctor on Monday!

  • I use Proactiv and it has completely cleared up the acne I was having on my face. I know that they make a body wash that you can buy on QVC. If you buy it from QVC you can return it if you are not happy with it. HTH

i have really bad pimples and scars from the pimples all over my back. i went to a dermatologist about 6 months ago, and was put on 2 medicines - 1 was a pill, the other a topical gel, both PRICEY. he also gave me a 10% benzoyl peroxide body wash. the medications helped somewhat, but at almost $200 per month i couldn't do more than 2 months of them, and they didn't help THAT much. he said my only other option was professional grade skin bleaching which sounds scary and even pricier :-\

i have done at home proactiv, body clear body wash, the treatment recommended on the acne.org website, and a glycolic peel. the best results i had were with the glycolic peel (BE CAREFUL if u do this yourself, you can seriously damage your skin if you don't follow the timing exactly! but u can buy it from amazon). even so, it's not the best results. i'm going to have a very full veil to help mask my back during the ceremony, and im wearing my hair down (about 4" past my shoulders right now) to try to help too. i'm going to ask my MUA if she can help cover it or at least recommend the best product for me to cover it, and i'm going to hope that all that combined will make it less visible at the wedding.

but at the honeymoon, there's no escaping it for me. but i care less about that :)
