Need a kick in the butt!

I've always had trouble keeping myself on any workout routine, but I've actually found something I like with Zumba! I just had a five day trip out of town, though, and although I didn't eat like I usually do when I go out of town, I'm just not proud of the way things went. I need to get back to my workout classes tonight (should have yesterday, but didn't), but I have this nagging little voice in my head telling me all the other things I could be doing...

Re: Need a kick in the butt!

  • I usually just go for a ten minute walk and then after that I have energy and motivation to complete my workout!
  • You can do it!  I know it's hard to get back into the swing of things.  My favorite motivational quote is "You can be sore tomorrow or you can be sorry."  I know I always feel 100 times better once I get my workout in and if I miss it I feel guilty.

    You can do it!!
  • I always get that little voice when I mess up my routine.
It's common.. but once you get your butt in the class, you remember why you loooooooooooooove your class and will NOT regret it.. but you will regret not going and just guilt yourself.
Even if you don't enjoy it and walk out bored, what's the worst part of that? That you were bored... but you still burned calories.

    Get your butt to class.
  • SimplyME - I love the "could be sore or sorry' point -- so true!

My trick for myself is always to agree to 12 minutes of any activity of my choice.  If I really don't feel good or my stress for other todos is killing me, I can stop, but at least I did 12 minutes.  Most of the time, however, it's close enough that I at least make it to 20 minutes and ultimately that's way better than 0.
