9/3/2011 Vendor Reviews (Part Two)

Reception Venue- The Glen Club, Glenview- A+
I loved my venue.  When we looked at venues, we knew immediately that this is where we wanted our reception.  I loved that we were the only event that night.  The room was gorgeous, the food delicious (everyone raved), and the drinks were flowing.  It was also spacious, which was nice.  Isabella, the event director, was the best, so easy to work with.  She never got annoyed with my endless questions (and there were a few).  I couldn't imagine my wedding being any place else.  Also nice is that they have 21 guest rooms upstairs, including a huge and gorgeous bridal suite.  Valet was included also, and everything was gorgeous.  The only thing is that there was lightening, so cocktails had to be inside.  This was not a big deal in the long run.  Couldn't be happier.

Invites- FUN Cards and Gifts, Glenview- A
Okay, I am biased because I worked there in high school and college, but I have to say that they know what they are doing and have a large variety of invitations.  They also do printing in house in case you are having a smaller event.  Love Rob and Val!

Flowers- Hlavacek of Glenview- A
Though we live in the city, most of our vendors were from the northern suburbs, and our florist was no exception.  Maria was amazing, and the flowers were some of the most gorgeous I have ever seen.  What was also great is that she and her assistant took care of everything, including transferring flowers from the church to the reception.  She truly understood what I wanted and was very flexible in pricing.  I also like that she had done weddings at both locations (she also does the daily arrangements for The Glen Club), so she knew exactly what the vision should be.  The flowers, mostly roses, hydrangas, and purple lysianthus, were fresh and gorgeous.  Also, my husband called her the day before to have a bouquet delivered to me that morning, and she used the same sorts of flowers, as well as his favorites, to create a gorgeous bouquet.  Love her.  Check her out!

Photographer- Joe Gallo- pending final product
So far, I am super happy with Joe.  He was so enthusiastic and easy to work with.  He was prompt, organized, and had the style we wanted.  I can't wait to see our proofs!  www.joegallophotography.com.

Hotel- The Glen Club- A and The Staybridge Suites, Glenview- B
Overall, both were good.  The Glen Club had the edge because it was literally above our reception venue.  Staybridge was good, but I didn't get a lot of communication from them, nor were they easy to negotiate on pricing.  Very nice and spacious, though, especially for families.

Limo- Emperor Limousine- B-
Overall, it was fine.  However, the driver called me while I was getting ready saying he was lost, which I didn't think was acceptable as it was 3 minutes from the guys scheduled pick up time.  This made the girls late for getting to the church.  Also, the AC was very weak, and it was humid, so that made it very uncomfortable.  However, the 20 passenger SUV was perfect for our wedding party, and he knew all of our locations for pictures.  I just wasn't happy about the stuff before the wedding and the AC.

Your experience with Emperor sounds a lot like mine that day. They had such rave reviews before...I was slightly disappointed. :(
