Invite Mistake

I was excited that we finally got our invites out yesterday morning to only realize today that we made a mistake. On our invites we have a line that says ___ number of seats are reserved in your honor.  For some reason I was thinking that would be filled out by the guest and didn't realize that I was suppose to fill it out till a little while ago!  Aack! Hopefully no one adds a person.  I did address the invitation to exactly who I wanted to invite so hopefully people will see that!

Re: Invite Mistake

  • uh oh... lol. Hopefully that is overlooked and people don't add extras. Maybe they will just assume that thet is in case less people than what you wrote on the invite are actually coming?  Otherwise you might have to make some not fun phonecalls, depending on whether or not you can fit the extras in.

Thats what I was thinking. But then I found out I was totally wrong!
  • Since you shared your invite mistake, let me share mine, maybe it will help!  LOL  I used a template for my RSVP cards with wording for a menu choice, seemed simple enough.  I changed to wording to my menu options and had the card proofed by several people.  Well guess what I overlooked, an opportunity to decline.  My RSVP is worded so that you only send the card back if you are coming!!  I'm quite sure that I will have a number of follow-up calls to make as a result.  I was hoping that if someone couldn't make it, they would simply send the card back with a note saying they were sorry, but they couldn't attend.  That has not happened yet.  Now that means that either we have wonderful luck and everyone we invited will attend, minus a few who have called.  OR, people aren't sending the card back if they can't make it.  *facepalm*

  • O no!!  Its just so much to look at and you think you got everything and then you realize your mistake.  Oh well!! Life goes on! :-)
  • This makes me want to go look over my invites again, lol. But they're out already so it's not like it will really matter.
  • Oh no!  Hopefully you won't have to make too many phone calls!  It's amazing all the steps you have to go through just get an invitation in the mail!

Whoops! I made a slight mistake on our invitations as well.  I put the year as "two thousand twelve" instead of "two thousand and twelve."  Note to self: don't try to word and order invitations at 11:30 at night!

Posted by bkhokie27[/QUOTE]. Actually....two thousand twelve is the CORRECT way! If you put an and it means a decimal should go there so instead of the year 2012 it would mean 2,000.12. So YaY for it being right when you thought it was wrong...you can totally rest easy now!

  • OP can you handwrite in the number of seats reserved?  I have seen that on invites I've received before.
