I surprised my husband with a Miami Dolphin's Jersey with our last name on it and the number "12" (for 2012).  We both love football, and he is a HUGE Dolphins fan (and hence, I am becoming one too).   I set the jersey out as our "guestbook" and everyone signed it.   It turned out REALLY REALLY well, and he loved the surprise.  It's now in a frame and waiting to be hung on our wall (we have a bar/lounge area).

I don't have any pictures, but you should find some if you google.

Any jersey will work if you're into sports, and you can usually order one online customized with your name.   If you guys aren't into sports, you could really set out ANYTHING for people to sign.  Maybe a guitar if you're into music?  A really nice world map if you like to travel?

  •  We are having a vintage feel wedding, so my guest book is a old vintage type writer!

  • We are doing a wishing tree. FI has a degree in forestry, so I thought it was a nice touch. We are using 3 or 4 manzanita branches in vases and cutting out pink and navy "leaves" with my sister's Cricut. There will be a sign instructing guests to "leaf" a message or advice. After the wedding, the leaves will be put into a scrapbook.

  • We are doing the serving plate that everyone will sign. we bought ours at michaels came with propers markers and the plate itsself just has 2 hearts on it. We will get alot of use out of this more so then a book on the bookshelf, however i LOVE the jersey idea!!!!
  • I'm from Philadelphia and my husband is from Buffalo.  I took two photographs of our city skylines and put them together in a lovely black and white image.  We had everyone sign that.

  • thanks for the ideas ladies!
  • We were married at Christmas time and bought a coffee table book of paintings and the words to silent night. The guests signed on the pages. We plan to put it out at the holidays as a decoration and a nice reminder.

  • We have a guest document that everyone signed and it's not hanging in our house.

On top it's our vows, the date and location.  Then everyone signed.  We got it from www.documentsanddesigns.com
  • We started collecting postcards from trips, and we compiled them in a frame.  So instead of doing a guest book, we left different postcards that reflected us in some way (some of the city where I was raised, the city where we was raised, the city where we live now, the place we were engaged, etc.) on each table and had people leave us messages on those instead.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE the sports team jersey! I am totally going to do that! Thanks so much!

  • We are doing a picture frame with his last name spelled out in pictures of items that look like letters, adding a wide matting around the photos and having our guest sign this.
It will be a nice reminder and it will be pretty on the wall!

  • We are doing a calendar. I made it free on VP using photos from the last 5 years of our relationship... Guest will find their birthday and sign their name. Since we are "merging" families, this is a good way to have record of everyone's birthdays and all the guests of our wedding.
  • FMIL quilts so she is making us a wall hanging that guests will sign with fabric pens. We can then display it in our home.

  • We are doing a puzzle....so people come in...grab a piece, sign the back of it...and when we put it together we can either show our engagement picture on the one side or all of the signatures of our guests...

  • We are getting a bunch of terra cotta plant pots and having people sign them. Something that we will actually use and display around our apartment.

  • We did "advice" cards and put them on every plate setting with a pen.

  • I am doing the signature photo mats.  I love the sports Jersey idea!
  • We're going to lay out some nice pens and paper and ask guests to leave advice or a comment or whatever and save it in a box to read at each anniversary along with notes we write to each other before the wedding.
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

We found a nice frame and are going to have people sign the matte inside the frame (it's not a normal matte, it's meant to be signed) then put a wedding picture in the space. Another adaption of that: a friend of mine got one of their engagement photos canvased and everyone signed the canvas.

ETA: another friend of mine got married and her husband is a musician so they went and bought a cheap electric guitar and had people sign it. They mounted it in their home. It looks great. I don't know what interests you or your FI, but if you have a hobby like that you could use the hobby as inspiration :)

  • I love the idea of a Wedding day Bible that guests can circle their favorite verses or verses that they use in their relationship/marriage. Then they can sign their name by the verse.

I also like the idea of an advice jar type guest book- that way we can go through and read all the advice we are given together.

  • We are having a photo booth.  The people will place one copy of their pictures in the book and then keep the other copy.  They will also sign and leave a personal note.  I think it will be funny to look back in 15 years and be like OMG look how young we looked!

  • We're also doing a photo booth and having people leave a copy of their pictures and write a little note.

I have a friend who did Polaroids, then everyone wrote a note at the bottom and she'll display them on her wall eventually. I loved that idea.

The venue I'm getting married said that someone bought a cool wooden bench and had everyone sign it. I loved that idea. :)

  • On pinterest I saw a post that had clothesline clips with the place card clamped in them. Guests were supposed to take a polaroid of themselves and replace their escort card with it. They could write a little message on the bottom and you can make a photo album from them. I loved the idea.

  • We are also doing the photobooth with a scrapbook. We're going to have different colored markers and pens and maybe those little scrapbook decorations that people can use to decorate the page too =)

  • Has anyone done the fingerprints on a poster as leaves on a tree? Did you just print it on paper? What ink/paint did you use? Anyone complain about it being messy? Could I ask any more questions in one post? Laughing
