New Year's Eve

What is everyone doing for New Year's Eve? Any big plans?

Re: New Year's Eve

  • Every year for about the past 5, my cousin and a bunch of other friends/family get all dressed up (prom dresses, old BM dresses, suits, shirts/ties) and go out to eat somewhere where that dress code is way above necessary. In the past it has always been O'Charley's but my cousin has recently become a vegetarian and says there's not much there for him to choose from so we're going somewhere else. People always ask where we're going and we say "Here, then back to so-and-so's house.

    It's awesome fun!
  • We don't have a plan as of yet.  My sister and BIL invited us to their place, they're going to have a few friends over with good food and drinks and that might be what we end up doing.
  • We are going to one of my best friend's houses for a little shindig.  They only live about 30 minutes away from us, so depending on how much we drink, we will either come home after or spend the night there.

  • FI's gpa and wife are coming. That's pretty exciting.
    Nothing else planned so far.

  • I haven't decided. My brother and his family are going to my parents and I may go but I want to spend some time with FI. He can't come with me because he doesn't have any time to take off from work. Decisions, decisions.

  • Usually FI's friends do something but this year it seems like they're flaking and going a few different directions.  We may just go to FI's parent's house and hang out with them.  We'll see.

    DO IT!
  • We don't have anything planned just yet. Still in the works with some friends trying to decide what we are going to do.

Jess that sounds like so much fun.

  • We both have to work at our part-time job on New Year's Eve (FI till 8, me till 7:30). I wanted to go to the mountains after with the rest of the family, but for some reason FI does not want to go. He normally loves the mountains. I'm sort of bummed about that. So for now, our plans are to go out for a nice dinner around 9:00. After that, I'm not sure.

    Oh, it is!
  • Yeah Jess! That does sound like fun. I think we may have a new tradition starting this year. ;)

My parents and an uncle and his wife are staying at the riverwalk NYE so we will probably have dinner with them and hang out for a bit, then we will go to my FSIL's friend's house. Somehow we have ended up there for the past three years so I bet this year won't be any different.

  • We are having people over our house. FI has to work until 10pm, but the party is starting at 7pm or so. Kids are all sleeping out - mine at my brothers, and FI's at their aunt's house. We hate going out to the bar on New Year's Eve - too much drama and you wait to long for a drink! We've done this that last few years and we have a blast.

  • Every year we get together with our family friends. Our moms have known each other since around the time I was born, and I've known their daughters all their lives. They're actually my bridesmaids. My sister is my MOH so it's perfect. Last year (first year with FI) we played Loaded Questions and it was so funny. I'm looking forward to seeing them because I haven't seen them since we went to pick out their bridesmaid dresses!

  • We are having friends over.  Usually about 20 people, including some friends from out of town who usually stay the weekend.  It's always fun.  We were going to do a "dressed up" theme but then FI forgot his dress shoes at my parents house over Christmas... so we are cancelling that.

  • Painting our living room LOL! At least that's what I would prefer to do...just stay home and take advantage of the time off that we have coordinating right now because I am still in orientation at my new job. I would be perfectly fine staying home, drinking beer and continuing to get our new house in order. FI; however, seems to have other plans. He keeps hinting about going back home...but blames it on stupid things. "We still have to clean the apartment..." "Um...we have the apartment until the end of FEBRUARY. Babe I REALLY don't want to go all the way back home this weekend..." He just sighs loudly. He does this all the time though. Instead of just saying (for example), "Hey Andy txt me and wants to get together for NYE. I'd really like to see him.", he will just beat around bush (even when I straight up ASK). Then I get irritated. SO, plans are yet to be determined. Stay tuned ;)
  • Me and my two best friends are having a sleepover with all of our kids (and babysitting for a few friends who want to go out). We will make lots of good food, play board games, and watch the ball drop. I can't wait! FI is going by his parents house for the night.

  • My FIL always do dinner at the same French restaurant every year, so we're doing that with them then going to my sister and BIL's place for drinks and a slumber party Smile  We don't like to drive with all the drunks after midnight!

  • FI wants to go to celebrate with friends, I'd rather stay home in my PJs and relax. We'll see who wins.

On New Years Day my whole family is coming over for the Giants game. Its a Polish tradition to have pork on Jan 1st for good luck, so every meal will have some sort of pork dish (taylor ham/pork roll & eggs for breakfast, BLTs for lunch, then pulled pork with a bunch of other game-day treats for dinner!)

  • We are having a few friends over for food. Haven't quite decided what yet, but it might be cheese fondue! There's been a bunch of drama among our friends here as another guy is having this big party but he also just broke up with one of my BMs, so FI and I just decided to stay out of it and hang out with our closest friends at home.
  • This year will be the first year I will not be out at one of my friends' parties.  I plan to just stay home with my FI and have some cuddle time together watching movies we missed over the past year.

  • Our neighbor is having a party.  At the Christmas party they asked us to bring a baby picture of when we were younger than 2 years old and we are all going to guess who everyone is.  I would never guess FI's if he didn't show me after coming home from his mom's house yesterday.  Supposedly it's a lot of fun, some wii bowling, some games, and of course some drinks.  We had just moved last October so we didn't know our neighbors for New Years so I'm excited that we are invited to participate in all of the festivities that go on in the neighborhood.  But the best part of New Years.....no driving involved, just walking across the street and a few houses down.  FI said he probably won't stay long (he's not as social as me), but I'll probably talk him into staying until midnight or we will come home right before.

FI and I, and my sister and her boyfriend are going to Gatlinburg, TN and renting a cabin for 3 nights. We're planning on stocking up on alcohol and fun games! We want to go skiing/snowboarding Saturday, come back and watch our Bowl Game, and then just have fun, drink, play games, and watch the ball drop! Anything other than that is just gonna be played by ear. =) I'm so excited!

  • This will be our first New Years Eve together! :) I have been talking about starting a tradition for NYE and I think we have decided that we will plan to do dinner out every NYE. I know that sounds boring, but we have Carter at home now and plan to have kids right away (or whenever God feels we are ready!) and we want it to be a tradiation we can keep. I am excited... we dont get out much just the two of us!
