Good vibes

Please send good vibes my way.  I might have to wait another four months to enlist. My recruiter is going to see if he can get me a wavier. If not then I have to wait four more months. I really hope I don't have to wait. He said if I did that we would get everything else done so I could just go to MEPS and tell them I wanted to leave ASAP

I know waiting sucks, but if you don't get it, that's another 4 months to get in peak condition!

My recruiter said the same thing. I might need the extra months to lose a bunch of weight

Stan's right.. It sucks to wait (I had to wait 8 months..) but it could be a good thing.. How much is a bunch (thats personal I know, so you can answer in a PM if you want)? I work at a gym so I could give you some pointers (tip #1:don't let any recruiter put you on some crazy crash diet..they are dangerous and horribly unhealthy) Let me know... Good Luck!

<div>Its only about 10 lbs. But I want to lose closer to 20. My recruiter was the one who said I have to go see him every 2 weeks and bring him a list of everything I did to lose weight. He said if its unhealth we are going to have a huge problem. </div><div>
    </div><div>But any tips are good and I will take them <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" /></div><div>
</div><div>I've been running, doing push ups and sit ups. I don't drink anything but water and sometimes add the drink powder from MREs. I try and eat healthy. I still have my weaknesses. But I make it a point to run everyday. I just started this week</div>

Keep a food journal.  Writing down everything that you put into your body can really help you. But you have to be diligent about it, don't just write down cereal, write down how much (you'd be suprised at how small a serving size actually is), and don't forget about the milk. Stop eating anything white (white bread, potatoes, pasta if it's white.. don't touch it). The MFP in my ticker is a great website to use as like an online food journal, plus they already have most every type of food I've ever tried to put in there.  You can put your starting weight, and goal weight and it will tell you how many calories to eat per day. Good Luck!!

If you want a good lifestyle type diet that will cause you to lose tons of healthy weight, check out Primal (and Paleo, but I disagree with cutting out dairy entirely).  Low-fat anything is actually bad for you - if it's a food that is supposed to be high fat, then they're doing something funky with it to make it low-fat.  The whole concept is to eat healthy, hormone-free, antibiotic-free, pesticide-free foods, ideally locally grown.  Cut out corn all together and all forms of it - popcorn, corn syrup, corn itself - it's used to fatten cows for slaughter for a reason!  Focus on meats, seafood, vegetables, fruits, nuts, herbs, and healthy oils (canola oil, sesame oil, limited amounts of olive oil) and some healthy dairy - actually full fat dairy or 2% is better for you than fat free.  Your body feels more satisfied so you eat/crave less.  Try to stay away from bad dairy - ice cream and cheeses and sugary yogurts - and stick to healthy dairy - Greek yogurt or plain unsweetened yogurt and milk.

Go to MarksDailyApple.com for some really delicious meals that follow these guidelines.  If you eat this way 5 days per week, and eat basically whatever you want the other two days, you'll see a SIGNIFICANT difference in your energy within a few weeks (don't be surprised if you're more tired at first - it's detox from the carbs.  But it passes quickly and you are SO energized!).  Also, your body totally changes.  I've seen someone who was massively overweight lose more than 50 pounds in 4 months - that's about the maximum amount you're supposed to do healthfully.  However, he went from being flabby to being a muscled Greek god!  This is a guy that FI works out with, so FI looked into the diet - he has also lost a good bit of weight and has much more energy and quicker recover time to his workouts.

I was a total skeptic, but I'm the biggest prophet now for this lifestyle diet!

Thanks guys. Trying to cut out food is the hardest because FI doesn't have to and keep eating it. Pop was hard but I did it. Next is bread

Give yourself cheat meals or days - try to limit it to weekends only or 3-4 meals per week.  Or say Wednesdays and Saturdays, to break up the week if you have a hard time turning down cravings.  That way you can just say, "I can eat this in two days."  Then in two days, if you still want it you can eat it.  Chances are you won't, but you aren't cutting things out entirely, ya know?  Makes it easier to handle!

Ask your FI if he'll try to eat healthy with you.  It won't hurt either of you, and he can always cheat by adding pasta to a meal or cheese or something that you don't.  It's a good way to be supportive!

Great!  That's a great start.  Don't do diet soda either (sorry, can't handle calling it pop).  It actually ends up making you fatter in the long run because the chemical sweeteners screw up your liver function, making it harder to process toxins in your body.  Unsweetened tea is fine, and you can sweeten things with a little honey once in awhile.  Natural, natural, natural!

Give yourself work out goals - how may times per week, what will you do, etc.  Sign up for a half marathon in about 2 months to give yourself motivation to start really running and training.

I don't do anything diet. My mom scared me out of it. <div>The goals. I do small goals and work up. I don't want to set something too high and not reach it</div>
