Question about ring exchange

Hello,

I have a question about the ring exchange. My FI and I are having an outside of mass ceremony and I am curious about the ring exchange during the ceremony. If I can, I want to have my e-ring and my wedding band soldered together before the ceremony. Does anyone know if this is a big no-no?

  • Doesn't matter. As long as you have a ring, its fine.
  • No problem at all.  The only reason I didn't do it ahead of time was because I wanted to keep wearing my e-ring right up to the wedding day and didn't want to wear the wedding band early.

FWIW, when I had them soldered, I think it took less than a day.

  • Thanks for the help ladies! I called a local jewelery store and they said that it takes less than 2 hours to have the e-ring and wedding band soldered together. I am hoping that I can do it the day before while I am out running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I will just go without my ring for a day, despite how much it will drive me bananas.

I don't recommend waiting until the day before your wedding, if you choose to have them soldered together. The last thing you need to be worrying about on that day is whether it'll be ready to be picked up in time for your wedding, even though they promised you it'll only take 2 hours. You just never know.

The question is pretty much answered. Just wanted to add my two cents that my Priest was very adamant that I had a separate wedding band (for whatever reason).

Since every parish is different, it might be safe to ask your priest, just in case.

  • i would do it at least a week ahead or after the wedding.  you dont want to do it the day before in case there is a problem.

its not that big of a deal to not wear your e-ring for a few days.
