Venue Booked Finally

We are so excited. We booked for July 08 2011!!!!  We have 6 months to plan a wedding. CRAZY!!!

I need to find a wedding dress so I need your help with this guys. I live in San Fernando and I have a budget of $1000.00. Have any of you rented a bridal gown? Im thinking of this so that I can wear a designer gown.

I wouldn't recommend a rental because you can only alter those dresses so much.  $1000 is plenty to find a beautiful dress.  Remember, only you (and maybe a couple of other fashionistas) will know if you're wearing a designer dress.  I purchased my Casablanca dress through JaysBridal.com (it was a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than in store) but you would really need to make a decision on your dress soon.

Also look at Pebbles in Woodland Hills.  I heard that they have a great selection of gowns.

I wouldn't recommend renting.  I have a friend that did and a month before the wedding, they tried to tell her the hideous dress they put her in for her alterations was the one that she picked.  Um, nope.

That, and it wasn't altered well.

Really? For some reason I thought wedding dresses were so expensive. I'll check out Jays bridal. Thanks.

I got mine at DB.  I went into my appointment thinking no way would I find a dress I liked there, but I actually love mine more than any designer dresses I've seen.  Also, Vera Wang has a new line for DB, too!  So I would try there for your budget (my dress budget was also 1000 for dress and alterations)

Mine was over $1000 if you include accessories (don't forget bra, hosiery, any underwear you might need, veil, shoes) and alterations, but the dress itself was $900 before tax. And it was hardly the cheapest one too. I got it at Alfred Angelo.

I'm slightly embarassed, but kind of proud at the same time; I got my wedding dress on ebay brand new, custom made to my size.  I had to do some minor alterations but it was beautiful and I paid less that $400 all together and couldn't be happier.  What venue did you go with, have you picked out a florist, photographer, etc?

Kays Bridal in Simi Valley has dresses for that price and even lower. I was there a few weeks ago and saw a beautiful gown for $850!  I was so tempted try it on, but I didn't being that I was there for my fitting, lol!

Thanks so much everyone. Jagore, I checked out Jays Bridal and they have beautiful dress that are at my budget. Do you know if there is a place in LA or San Fernando Valley where I can actually try the dresses on?

    Thanks

    Femfatal,

The venue is the La River Center. My aunt is a florist so she will be doing the flowers.
