Thoughts about the wedding shoe game?

On Four Weddings this past week they did a variation of the game, but basically what happens is the DJ calls the bride and groom out to the dance floor and they sit on separate chairs back to back.  They each have one of their shoes in one hand and the other person's shoe in the other (or, on Four Weddings, they used wrestling action figures to represent the groom and Barbie dolls to represent the bride) and the DJ asks them questions such as:
-Who is the best kisser?
-Who is the better cook?
-Who said "I love you" first?

After each question, the bride and groom each hold up the shoe that represents the person who they think is the answer to that question.  No prizes are anything are involved that I know of, but from what I've read guests generally find it amusing to watch and to see if the bride and groom agree with each other about the answers.

On the one hand, I can see how it could be amusing as long as it's quick, but on the other hand I feel like it's just another point in the reception where everyone has to get off the dance floor to watch the bride and groom (similar to the special dances, cake cutting, etc.).

What are your thoughts?

    I would think it would be very cute to include it at the beginning or end of a shower when the groom was dropping off or picking up the bride.  I don't know what I think about doing it at the wedding.....

    Hell to the no.

    I mean, it is better than sitting through a slideshow of photos of the couple, but there is absolutely no reason to have games at a wedding.  It is not a bat mitzvah.  Get me drunk and let me dance and I'll have a good time.  Don't make me sit in my seat watching a "game" and trying to figure out if it is rude for me to sneak away to get another drink.

    Honestly I think it's cute for a shower but tacky for a wedding.  I'd be horrorfied if I saw that at a wedding.

    I don't know if I would be horrified if I saw this at a wedding. But if there was a shared bridal shower I would think it was cute there.

    Definately a no at a wedding, but you may be able to pull it off at a shower- as long as it's short and not dragged out for too many questions.

    My thoughts are, why distrub the dancing and the general merry making, just so that the bride and groom...who are already the focal point...can, once again, be the center of attention.  If I was at a wedding where this happened, I would most likely be annoyed they cleared the dance floor for this.

    I actually watched this with my FI on Friday and he said, "well that looks fun."  I asked him if he would actually want that to happen at our wedding and he said, "ummm no I meant more like on a cruise ship or something."

    I think it depends on the type of wedding... I'm only having immediate family and friends (only about 50 ppl) at our wedding so it could be fun if everyone knows the bride and groom well. 

    I wouldnt do it though, 4 hours is such a short time as it is, I wouldn't want to cut into the dancing.

    I went to one wedding where they did this, and it was really a lot of fun. If you would've described it to me, I wouldn't have thought I'd enjoy it. But I really did.

    This. Sorry to be snarky but this is completely corny and I would probably feel very embarrassed for the married couple whose wedding I had to sit through if they pulled this nonsense.

    I agree with pp. When I saw that I did think it was really cute, but I know my guests want to dance and I wouldn't want to disrupt the flow. I think it's kind of a cheap excuse to draw attention to the two of you. I think that at that point in the night it's just about celebrating.

    No need to apologize for being snarky or having your opinions or whatever, ladies... I wasn't asking because I was considering doing it, so no offense at all has been taken in response to any of your comments (good or bad... though mostly bad, I see, haha). 

    I only asked about it because I had been asking tons of other reception-related questions yesterday, so my mind was on receptions and then the Four Weddings post in another thread got me to thinking about it.  It never even crossed my mind to have it at our wedding simply because more than half our guests will be a bunch of Latino men and women who love their dancing (and salsa especially), so they'd be pissed beyond belief if we were to stop the dancing for any reason and (in all honesty) I don't want an overload of attention on me that day... I'll have enough of it as it is and I'd rather guests do their own thing instead of constantly watching me.  I was just curious about what you all thought since I had read about it awhile ago on weddingbee.com(?) and then saw it on the show this past week.

    Edit: And, just to add, as I mentioned in my OP I definitely see how it could be fun/amusing in some situations as well as a not-so-great idea since it cuts into the dancing and whatnot in other situations.  Like a PP said, for a smaller wedding (or even for a wedding where the bride and groom choose listening music instead of dancing music for the reception), I think it could be a good idea.  Whereas for larger weddings or weddings that center more around the dancing and music, I'd imagine it wouldn't go over as well and could even bring the party atmosphere down a notch or two.

    I should add that I would probably really enjoy this game if it was at a shower.  Definitely better than a wedding word search or bridal bingo (that tend to be pointless and boring fillers IMHO?).  But if you think your wedding needs fillers to help pass the time, you're probably doing something wrong?  Or else it doesn't need fillers and you're going to annoy your guests who will have plenty of other ways to entertain themselves.
