Registry stalking?

Now that we're really close to the wedding, is anyone else registry stalking or are you trying to hold yourself back?

I just checked and ALL OF OUR CHINA WAS BOUGHT. I am stoked.

If you're stalking, what's one thing you're really excited to receive???

Re: Registry stalking?

  • Guilty!!! Totally bummed because nothing has really been bought since my showers. I'm pretty sure all of our family and friends are last minute shoppers though. Hoping for the rest of my china to be bought because so far we only have 2 sets bought. Also really hoping for the Dyson vacuum!

  • ummmm our registries are almost all empty. we have like a few random spoons and cutting boards and gadgets but that was it.

so I added some totally unnecessary things like Kate Spade picture frames and a double belgian waffle maker. whoops.

We were thrilled to get our every day plates/dish sets and our kitchenaid mixer.
  • It is really not the norm for people to gift registry items for the wedding in my group of friends or family so I havnt even thought to look at my registry since the shower.

Most of my side will give cash, but fiance told me that his friends/family typically give gifts.

I have a feeling all the china was bought by my grandma.

  • i think the gift-giving is a midwest thing. I know some people will give cash and gift cards, but people here are super sentimental and love giving a gift that they can hand to someone. This is why all three of our registries keep getting bought up!
  • We got two gifts off the registry so far.  I'm kind of disappointed but a lot of people are OOT so they won't bring us a physical gift which I totally get!

  • We haven't had much go from our registries, mostly we will get cash gifts.  My parents actually gave me their gift yesterday and it is a whole heck of a lot more than they said they would pay for the wedding.  We had planned on them giving us x and they gave us basically enough to cover everything including the honeymoon! I'm hoping for my dinnerwear to be bought or our sheet/comforter set!

  • Yea, my registry is pretty much empty, too...

Same here in our area it is very rare to get an actual gift at a wedding.  Everyone just gives cash so I have not looked at my registry since my shower as well.

Well, I sincerely doubt they'll bring the physical gift to the wedding. How would they carry it? Most of them are being delivered to my mom's house.

Wait. Now I'm concerned. People actually bring the physical gifts?

  • I stalk! We got a lot of our stuff at my bridal shower but a few things have popped up that FI is excited about. Wine rack, Silverware etc. I got a carpet cleaner at the shower which I used today! LOL There were a few spots on the carpet that I wanted to get up before FI GM arrives tomorrow and my BM and BF arrive next week!

  • I'm having my second shower this weekend. I"m trying not to registry stalk this time around. Cash is normal in my area for wedding gifts, so I'd be surprised to get a bunch of actual gifts at my wedding.
  • Ok I feel bad for b*tching. Just stalked again, and someone seriously just bought one of our luggage sets! I'll shut up now :-)

Yes.  Not sure why because why do the bride and groom want to deal with it but at the wedding we went to last weekend there were dozens of gifts.  Also, my sis got a lot of physical gifts at her wedding.

Yup sometimes!  I usually see that 1 present wrapped standing next to the card box.  I feel like older people give physical gifts.

  • yes! people bring gifts to the actual wedding! it's crazy!
  • What the heck, guys.

    hahahahahahaha

I guess my planner will figure out what to do with them if someone shows up with one?!

  • We have to phsyically appoint someone to be in charge of taking our gifts home for us. My wedding planner asked me who and I was like whoever has the biggest car? lol. Really crossing our fingers for more cash than gifts though. Just because we are placing offers on houses right now and would rather have money in the bank :-)

I assumed everyone got gifts at weddings lol But I'm also from Indiana where physical gifts are far more common at weddings than cash. In fact, when my cousin got married about 9 yrs ago, they opened their gifts at the wedding! This is apparently super old fashioned, and I find it extremely tacky/boring (that's what a shower is for?).

We are doing a second reception in Massachusetts though, and I'm being told to expect cash/gift cards...sweet! lol

As for registry stalking...I checked a few days ago and was surprised to see all of our Macy's towels bought! They weren't cheap towels either! I'm sure they got them on sale (they were on sale when I stalked), but they are worth like, $160! We are also getting our Godinger crystal glasses...excited for those too :)

  • I had very little bought from our registries for the shower so mine are EMPTY. Seriously. LIke maybe 3 things have been bought off both of them.

Oh goodnsss. Another appointment. Something tells me this stuff is going to stashed in the U-Haul we're bringing to the venue.

Seriously, though? What did they want us to do? Carry the gifts as we're having our farewell? WTH?

  • My registry was emptied out after our invitations went out (FI even got his fancy knives!) so I added some random cook books lol. I didn't want some of our friends who are younger to go to WS the morning of the wedding and not find any options, so I just threw some under $50 random stuff on there.

My venue coordinator told us to expect a few physical gifts, and just have them placed at the card table. You really need someone to watch the card table anyway, so it shouldn't really make a difference in your planning for this, I wouldn't think.

My dad is one of those weirdos who ALWAYS brings a giant physical gift to a wedding (I think just b/c he wants everyone to see that he got the couple something big, usually a non-stick cookware set, lol). I'm always kind of embarrassed when he does this, but that's just what he is used to. He is from the mid-west, so maybe it is a mid-west thing?

  • I was the opposite of K888. I was shocked how much money we expect to get comparatively.

We still have a lot left on our registries, but with 2 weeks left, im not worried yet. I bet a lot will just go friday afternoon before the wedding. We are a proactive bunch like that.

  • We got our dishes.  I'm beyond excited.  Also quite floored that it was one person that bought them.  Seriously?  We love you for that.  Our dishwasher will also love you for not having to wash our same 2 plates over and over again.  We also got our knives, which I'm pretty happy about!
