Invitations

Went to the post office and mailed my invitations today! They hand canceled them with no problem and no fee. Today is starting off great!

  • SHYT. Nevermind. I went back to the other postage post where i asked that question (thanks m1ssJ). I forgot about that. i already sent mine out the regular way, with a regular stamp on them....... *crossing fingers that they all don't come back*

  • Yay! Great check. I don't know what hand canceling is either. Does this happen with invites that are over a certain weight?

football - Instead of running your invitations through the machine and getting metering on them you can ask the post office to take the stamp and do each one by hand. It helps to ensure your invites (envelopes) dont get damaged when they are run through the machine.

The stamp is the little cirle that postmarks the date and (I think) location of  the mailing

Basicly that's it. I never knew what it was until last year sometime someone was talking about it on here. I said I was going to inquire about it when I sent mine out to try to prevent damage. Mine aren't heavy it actually took regular stamps. So I put the rose forever stamps on them. When I went to the post office I had them use the hand stamp instead of running thru the machine.

Hijacking my post. Lol..Girl its all good! I put one together a few weeks ago and had it weighed then I purchased the stamps. The first envelope the guy touch to hand cancel he got too smug ink type marks on it. He was like oh God did I do that. I looked at his hands and I was like yeah I think you have something on your thumb. He kept looking at it and said I am so sorry. I told it was ok. He made sure his thumb didn't touch the other ones when he as stamping them. Lol
