DT LA....

So since the whole wedding process has started everyone always says go to DT LA for the best prices! but to be totally honest..I'm such a Valley girl...I have no clue where that means? Unless I get some type of physical direction "DT LA" seems like a maze to meUndecided

Some last week suggested going there to look at dresses, last night for veils and other accessories.

PLEASE Ladies, could some of you share where exactly I need to go? I'm really interested in going!

I think they mean downtown, but being a valley girl myself, I'd rather pay more than get lost down there and try to figure out where to park my car ;)

Oh no! I can see how you'd be totally lost. I am a designer and lived in downtown so I got used to it, but you are right -- it IS a total maze!!

So, the area is broken up into "districts":
    > The Jewelry District (on Hill Street, Olive Street, and Broadway between 5th and 8th Streets)
perfect place to shop for wedding bands. Best prices in town. And there is so much competition between vendors you can bargain.

    > The Fashion District (around Los Angeles and 9th st)
this is where all the fabrics and trim are sold. It's great for people that want to do their own table linens, buy ribbon, etc. There are also several places that will sell tiaras, and other inexpensive bridal accessories

    > The Flower District (Wall street and 8th)
this area is home to LA Flower Mart -- a wholesale market for flowers. If you are thinking of doing some of your own flowers this is the best place to go. You can also browse adjoining flower shops and talk to florists there

    > Chinatown (along North Broadway and North Hill Street)
if you need paper parasols, etc

WOW!!!! Thanks betaandaluz....that is very helpful! I'll have to save that somewhere in my notes.

Flower District I've been there a few times since the florist we decided is located on 8th.

Hill St  been there as well since we are getting bands...but when they start talking about tiaras, veils, wedding dresses and all....then they throw ST names and cross sts I've never even heard...I feel like such a "Valley girl" Embarassed I need to explore and get out of my comfort zone!

Thanks again for sharing...this all sounds like an all day event!

I got my bridal accessories and Veil at Royal Accessories, I don't know their exact address, but if you google them, you will find them. I got my veil there for only $65. They have tons of veils and jewelry, although let me warn you their jewelry is on the expensive side. But I think their veil prices are great.

As for dresses, I have no idea where they are in DT LA.

    glad to help, ladies :-)

    for dresses:
there is an area right next to the Jewelry District on Broadway. It's a street that has a lot of different vendors for Quinceanera, baby showers, etc. A lot of the stores carry wedding dresses in addition to Quinceanera dresses.

    * Note: quemiras, I saw the dress you are in love with (it is gorgeous, congrats!) and I am not sure if the stores in downtown carry something in that style. The dresses there are more ballgown shaped

If you're a valley girl, go to the Erika Koesler warehouse and save yourself the trip!
