Wedding Shoppe

Did anybody else have problems with the BM dresses being too big on ALL the girls when they received them?  6 of the 7 are too big (I'm not sure about the 7th yet bc she hasn't tried it on yet) but it's very frustrating that they will have to pay for alterations everywhere on the dress now when they could've gotten one size down and have had only a few snips.  Wondering if it is worth even calling and complaining.

TIA

When I had a BM go she is in 2 weddings this summer she was sized the same measurements but the designer that I chose and the designer the her cousin chose put her in 2 totally different sizes. The dress I had chose was a size 6 and her cousins she was sized at a 2. Huge difference. She had the option to sign a waver saying she wanted to go a size up or down. If they ordered the size that they were sized at your probably not going to get anywhere with them :( But hey all you can do is try, im sure they would say it has something to do with the maker of the dress. I got mine there for my BM and 2 BM's fit perfectly and the other 4 all needed to be taken in a little.

Yes! The wedding shoppe suggested all my girls order their dresses in sizes larger because of "stretching in the sample" however when they got them they were no joke 4 sizes to big. I felt aweful because they had to spend so much in fitting costs.

I am glad that you ladies are posting about this. I have been planning on my girls getting their dresses from the wedding shoppe because the same dress is almsot 20 dollars cheaper than at the place we tried them on at.

Do you ladies have any advise on how I can get them to avoid this?

    Yes post advice :)
I'd like to avoid that for my BM dress for Miss Colstj's wedding :)

I got my dresses there as did my sister.  The only thing I can say is make them show you the measurement chart and make sure they're measuring the right spot (narrowest part of your waist, biggest part of your hips, biggest part of your bust).  I think most sales staff do that anyways but you can see if you might be on the border of being between sizes (better to go up in my opinion) or if 2 of 3 measurements are right on track, if you might be able to go with the intended size and if there is enough play to alter the other one that doens't work right.

I think that *most* people have to get a dress altered, no matter how well it is measured - especially if you're doing the same dress for all.  We're all just proportioned differently and they can't possibly create enough variety to encompass them all.

Two out of four of my bridesmaids had overly large dresses from WS that they had to get altered, which was very challenging for them both being from OOT.  The styles that they both ordered (v-neck and halter) flared out in the waist/hips area and was meant to be more fitted around the bust... but they were way too large there in the size that she had them order.  Definitely try to make sure they are basing the size selection on measurements that will be best-suited to the style that the bridesmaids order!!!

I got my bridesmaid dresses there and they were wonderful. I had 6 bridesmaids and only one of them needed the top taken in. The others fit pretty well. I ended up having floor length bridesmaid dresses so most of the girls needed a hem. I have found from being in 7 wedding myself. I have needed all my bridesmaid dresses to be altered and we have gotten dresses from a variety of stores including the wedding shoppe. Everyone has different shapes and sizes, so most dresses are not going to fit like a glove.

I also got my girls's dresses there and they were also way to big. They ended up having to get mega alterations done.

We had the same problem.  Both of the dresses for my two bridesmaids were at least 1-2 sizes too big.  The sample dress fit one of them perfectly when we were originally there, but the consultant helping us gave us the same "samples are stretched out" nonsense.
