Deerfields Bakery. We just placed our order last week for our Memorial Day weekend wedding. We use Deerfields for most of our cakes....always a crowd pleaser

We are using Lutz bakery. They are a little neighborhood bakery and all of their stuff is amazing. They will do anything you ask of them and all of their cake flavors are so yummy!!

Best bakery that I know of is Aracelys.  Neighborhood bakery and will go out of their way to make your special cake.  They have a website at aracelys.com
    You will love them!

Although in the suburbs, my first choice would be Lovin' Oven Bakery in Libertyville and/or Round Lake.  Oak Mill Bakery is also very good, and has several locations.  Finally, Continental Central Bakery in Mt. Prospect has a long standing reputation as well.

Our wedding cake is included in our package with our venue and will be from Oak Mill Bakery.  Haven't had our tasting yet, nor have I had anything from them (to my knowledge), but I thought I'd throw the name out there!

We had tastings at Lutz, Swedish Bakery, Dinkels, and Whole Foods (Kingsbury/Lincoln Park is the only location that does wedding cake).

Ultimately, we decided on Dinkels. They were the least expensive, and they were tied for 1st for which we liked the most, flavor-wise.

I'm going with Wolf's Bakery in Evergreen Park.  I chose them because every march they make a lime fluff cake that I wanted to have for my wedding.  They are agreeing to make it specially for my wedding.

I guess I just recommend them because they were so accomadating, helpful, and laid-back.

Oh yeah and their cakes are amazing.

We used Vanille Patisserie for our wedding cake and it was wonderful!  Sadly, we heard that Vanille no longer does wedding cakes.  Other bakeries that I now research (for special occasion cakes) include:

    Patisserie P (Uptown)
    Bleeding Heart Bakery
    Alliance Bakery
    Sarah's Candies and Pastries
    Sweet Mandy B's
    Bittersweet Bakery

When I was shopping around for wedding cakes, I also considered Le Royale in Oak Park - they were recommended by a photographer we had interviewed (Chris Guillen).

    Good luck!

Just had our tasting at Domino's Pastries in Chicago and loved them. VERY affordable, too.

Ooooh, Lutz....that takes me back.  My parents used to take us there Sunday mornings for pastries.  That was back in the day when they were just the one little storefront and hadn't expanded.

Oak Mill Bakery did an excellent job for us.  We got many many compliments.

When I lived in Mt Prospect we got all of our special occasion cakes from Continental.  Always good!

MrsPaps....Continental is the bakery used by the venue my daughter has her reception booked at, so your "enthusiasm" is very encouraging!  The samples we had at our tasting were all wonderful.  They have been great insofar as flexibility regarding the style/design ideas for the cake.  Thanks for the "boost"!

I love Lutz, Roesers, and I'm doing my cake from Beautiful Cakes on Higgins. Irma is sweet, and there were SO many fillings, and cakes.

We are using Lana's in Wheeling on Dundee. Small bakery, very helpful and reasonable. She is very helpful in choosing the cake and flavors.

We are using Oak Mill Bakery, we have done a tasting with them and it was awesome.  They also have numerous locations which is helpful from a travel and locations perspective.

    Good Luck!
