Oahu Vendor Reviews...long!

Hi ladies,  I’m not the most frequent of posters, but felt I owed some vendor reviews considering how helpful this board was in the planning process.  We had an amazing wedding day and as everyone says, it goes by so quickly!  Please send me a PM if you have any questions!

Bilingual MC:  Sarah Aoyama / Engaging Moments www.engagingmomentshawaii.com/">http://www.engagingmomentshawaii.com/

We had Sarah as our Japanese/English MC and she was awesome!  We debated hiring an MC and Sarah made me so happy that we did!  She really brought our two cultures together and was so easy to work with.  She does all levels of WC as well, so check her out.  I wish I had known about her when we first started planning…she would have been our WC, we loved her that much!

Vanessa’s food is amazing!  She may take a little while to get back to you, but wait for her, she is so worth it!  I felt her prices were very reasonable and she is very accommodating.  We provided our own alcohol/drinks and Vanessa met us at Costco to haul it away.  Also, her staff is so friendly and helpful.  The bartender was great, everyone loved him!

I had a good experience working with Sue.  I know she can be hard to get a hold of…we didn’t get our final bill until 2 days before the wedding, but I loved the flowers she provided.  We had mainly peonies and orchids, which looked fabulous!  My lei (3 strand pikake) was looking a little sad, but I think that was more due to the heat than anything else.  One thing, not sure it falls to the florist though…we were supposed to have leis draped over each guest chair prior to the ceremony.  Well, after the ceremony I realized that no one had a lei on.  The WC then came up with them and handed them out.  Not a big deal, but I wonder what would have happened to the leis if I never noticed that people didn’t have them on?
 Transportation:  TPT Transportation
We provided transportation from Waikikito Lani and back.  TPT’s drivers were great, I’ll give them that.  However, they were about 45 minutes late on the pick up from Lani back to Waikiki.  They were supposed to be at Lani at 9:15pm, but didn’t arrive until about 10:00pm.  Our WC informed me that they were going to be late.  I guess they botched the time, but I don’t know why she still had everyone go out to the parking area to wait.  In retrospect, I wish she had let everyone stay in Lani and continue the fun, since we weren’t going over Lani’s time limit.  I felt like she just wanted us out to start the clean up.  Fortunately, our guests were good sports and continued partying in the parking area.

Excellent!  On time, friendly driver, if you need a limo use them!
Videography:  The Big Picture Productions  www.thebigpicturevideo.com/">http://www.thebigpicturevideo.com
Can’t give a full review now, since we have to wait for the video…but I really liked Scott a lot.  I felt he was really upfront with pricing and did a great job of “directing” us for the video.  DH and I are both so hopeless in front of any sort of camera!
 DJ:  Music Express www.mxpentertainment.com/">http://www.mxpentertainment.com
Recommended.  Rick was nice to work with.  He always responded to questions quickly and I appreciated that!  I felt he is reasonably priced.  I gave him an Ipod of songs to play and he did a pretty good job of playing them.  I never asked why, but he didn’t play any of the Japanese music we provided on the Ipod.  I wonder if the format was different and he couldn’t play them.  Anyway, he did our ceremony music perfectly, which was the most important thing!
Hair and Makeup:  Studio W of Honolulu www.studiowofhonolulu.com/">http://www.studiowofhonolulu.com

Loved them!  Wendy always responded to email right away and sent Heather out to do hair and makeup for my mom and I.  Heather did an amazing job!  We both did the airbrush makeup, which was awesome.
 Superb Sushi:  www.superbsushihawaii.com/">http://www.superbsushihawaii.com
Highly recommended…even though I didn’t eat any sushi!   The guests loved it, so very happy that we used them.  I think it was $12.00 per person for 2 hours.
 Reception Music:  Henry Makua

What I heard, I loved!  We had a duo play for about an hour during dinner.  It set a nice vibe and we wanted to have something since we didn’t do any dancing!
  WC:  Hawaii Weddings and Events
Okay…this one is hard to write.  Dianna gets lots of love on this board…but I can’t really share in the love.  She did book a few of our vendors, which was helpful, especially the rentals and she had good vendor recommendations.  But a few things happened and I just felt disappointed.  I’ll leave it at that and if you want more info, send me a PM.
Welcome Dinner:  Tiki’s Grill and Bar www.tikisgrill.com/">http://www.tikisgrill.com
Recommended.

We had a dinner with all of our friends/some family.  Tiki’s was the perfect spot.  It was private; we used the lanai area closest to the pool.  The food was pretty good, not as good as the wedding day food, but good and lots leftover to take home for a midnight snack.  Overall, we were happy with our experience at Tiki’s!
