RSVP's and no shows

Ladies,

My sister and I are going back and forth on rsvps and invites. I keep hearing and reading that even though people may rsvp alot of them don't show up. However I am really reluctant to add a couple of extra people to my list based on the assumption that some may not show.

What has been your experience for the ladies that have gotten married already and for those of you who may know someone who has gotten married already?

    I think like you...but I will say that we invited 15 over and got 20+ declines so far. If you have lots of out-of-towners on your list, elderly people, or people who just aren't that close to you (distant relatives or co-workers), you may be okay with a few over. Your nearest and dearest won't miss it though so if it's intimate, keep it at what you can accommodate.

    Okay that's good to know. So I may be safe going over by a few. My FI whole family is in Jersey so it's like they all have to travel.

    As far as rsvp'ing to the wedding and not showing up, my mother had 27. I damm near flipped out. But if you are talking about the number of invitations to send out, you have to know your guest, I have a lot of older ppl for my hometown that I know wont come.

    Yes, I was SOOO mad. And people are giving her excuses. These were also last minute adds (the people you call because they don't return the rsvp).  I warned my mom to hide the escort table before I come in because I will go off if I see 27 on my table.

    Wow that sucks tremendously. Okay so another words I can invite one or two more folks and still have mad room to spare.

    We didn't have many people who rsvp'd and didn't show.  In fact I think we only had 2--do NOT bank on no-shows.  People kept saying we would have a bunch, but it ended up not being the case.  We were really lucky we didn't invite the couple extra people we were thinking because we were at max capacity--those extras would have ended up sitting on the floor.
