Travel Agent?

Are any ladies planning to book a honeymoon through a travel agent? I think we should use one just because we don't know enough about South Africa to really feel confident in planning everything ourselves (esp when it comes to booking things and making sure they are legit). I tried to do some simple google searches and such but it doesn't really help. Thoughts?

We travel around Europe a lot, and we've never used a travel agent. If you want to find cheap flights, keep an eye on Orbitz and Kayak.com. And if you want to check out ratings on hotels, or places to stay, we always use tripadvisor.com. They'll tell you the top places to go and whether something was good or bad, or how helpful they were. And when it comes to hotels, a lot of times they post photos of what the insides looked like, because of course the pictures on the websites are always of the suites and really expensive rooms. In my opinion, travel agents are to pricey... But I could see wanting to use one especially if you've never traveled outside of the country.

Sometimes also, when it comes to flights, it can be cheaper to just book your flight into the cheapest possible city, to at least just get to the country, then book a connecting flight through a smaller airline. For the smaller airlines, try searching skyscanner.com (if you use this, use the map search setting, once you click the airport you'd be connecting through, it tells you all the places you can connect to from there )

Thanks!  I think we are going to adjust the area we are going to Europe or Australia. We were aiming for South Africa, and it's just so hard to figure out how to set everything up -- I think we will throw in the towel and hit an all-inclusive resort or something. The flight prices are definitely a harsh reality!
